Guest guest
Try Kale instead of spinach. Sometimes Spinach has a bite that's hard to mask. And if they like mango, try to mix with that, as the fruit is strong enough to mask just about anything. I've heard you can over-do it on spinach, anyway. Switch up the greens. Kale is super-cheap, too! So is fresh parsley. > > I've had my Vitamix for a couple months and love it. I've been making green smoothies for my family in the mornings. Everyone will drink it except my 9 year daughter. She says she can taste the spinach. Does anyone have a suggestion for another type of smoothie that will mask the vegies for kids, perhaps some kind of chocolate smoothie? I'm open to any suggestions. I played around a bit with cacoa powder to make a chocolate milk drink, but it was not well-received. Thanks! >
Guest guest
Surprise, Im back for a moment. Lol. In between hospital stays. First, thank you all soooo much for the cards. You each lifted me in such a positive way. Still very ill but when I saw this I had to respond. My daughter has never eaten a veggie in her life. Until now. Because I am so ill shes been making tons of concoctions and here's our two favs. 1st we freeze all milk in ice trays and then put them in zip lock bags. We also freeze all fruit. So here's one chocolate delight. 2/3 cup milk, 1 pack chocolate carnation instant breakfast, 4 frozen milk cube's (I also freeze chocolate flavored boost because I need the extra boost lol. Then about 1 1/2 cup frozen blueberries. Thrown in a handful of spinach and I PROMISE she will never taste it. It's thick and delicious. Sometimes we add 4 frozen chocolate boost cube's. Next one, exactly the same except she uses frozen strawberries. Now you can make it thicker by adding more frozen item's or thinner by adding less. Now, I also make one with 3/4 cup milk, chocolate carnation instant breakfast, 1/2 frozen banana, 4 frozen milk cube's and a handful of roasted unsalted peanuts. Girl, we all enjoy all 3 of these. We call it chocolate covered strawberry or blueberry smoothie, and the latter chocolate peanut butter ice cream (i prefer that one thick) . Hope this helps, and thank you everyone for your thoughts, love and prayers. Thank you cards heading out soon as I rest from my latest 4 day stay at the 5 star Hilton (hospital) lol. Guest guest
First off, I hope that your health continues to improve and I am glad that your daughter is starting to eat healthier. However, as you get stronger, you might want to find an alternative to Carnation Instant breakfast. It is nothing but chemicals. Years ago, I thought it was a healthy alternative, but all it really did was give me gas. I am sure that more knowledgeable members from this group can supply the substitute, whether it be cocoa powder or even just a dab of chocolate syrup, but I think that the Instant Breakfast product has way too many chemicals to be considered healthy. Just my opinion. > > Surprise, Im back for a moment. Lol. In between hospital stays. First, thank you all soooo much for the cards. You each lifted me in such a positive way.
