Subject: Urgent Contact Wild Oats ASAP

>I just found out that in response to consumer requests, Wild Oats will start

>carrying Tide, Bounce, and other toxic laundry soaps*. This is in response

to

>a national survey they conducted in which people requested that they sell

>these items in their stores.

>

>Those of us with extreme sensitivity to the harmful chemicals (i.e.,

>fragrances) in these items urgently need your help. Please contact Wild Oats

>and spread the word.

>

>I and a number of others will not be able to shop at this grocery store if

>they stock these on the shelves!! Please help!

>

>Please call or email Wild Oats headquarters soon. (1) Urge them to educate

>consumers about the dangers of these products and to NOT respond to consumer

>request by supplying these items. Reiterate the known carcinogens, central

nervous system disruptors and narcotics found in Bounce.

And they can supply a nontoxic alternaive like " Static Eliminator " )

>(2) Explain that people like me who have multiple chemical sensitivity and

>others who have severe asthma or who get migraines from these sythetic

>fragrances will not be able to even walk into their store!

>

>Let them know that this is a disability issue and an access issue. I would

>like to be able to purchase my groceries at Wild Oats! Bounce and other

>fabric softener sheets, in particular, spread their smell all over the store,

>contaminating yogurt containers and shampoo bottles, making it impossible for

>us to purchase any of these items.

>

>(3) Wild Oats represents natural and organic products that do not cause harm.

>Let them know that they are going back on their word by carrying these

>products. Not only do they harm children and adults alike, but they damage

>fish and other wildlife in waterways. Such harm goes against the Wild Oats

>mission:

>Please do all you can to spread the word and let Wild Oats know that they

need to be a leader, not a follower in natural health products. They can best

>serve their communities by educating people about the harms of these products

>and NOT supply them in their stores.

>

>Also inform them that a number of shoppers will boycott and picket their

>stores if they put these products on their shelves.

>

>* though these products have unscented or scent-free versions, stores always

>carry both (or just the scented ones), which will still contaminate the store

>as a whole. Also, the 'scent free' versions of fabric softener still contain

>harmful synthetic fragrance.

>Thank you!!!!
