Guest guest Posted January 31, 2011 Report Share Posted January 31, 2011 Hi, Sue here, mom to Alyssa 14yrs, from Michigan. I have been on this list since shortly after Alyssa was born. I read everything but rarely post. Alyssa is in 8th grade at her home middle school. She has 3 gen ed classes and 3 special ed classes. She is involved in a special needs cheerleading team, a teen club thru her Dr's office (she just sees kids with spec needs) and U of M Dance Marathon. I recently got her a cell phone and a key to the house and we have practiced me not being home (actually I'm in the basement but she doesn't know it), she has let herself in and called me to say she's home. She loves her cell phone, which stays in the house, but has been known to call and text her sisters and niece numerous times in a day. The girls actually send " Alyssa Alerts " to warn each other when she starts calling or texting them. Anyways it's all in good fun and she's learning a good skill.
