Guest guest
Hello Renae,I'm sorry I don't remember (and can't find) the post I made about this. I don't usually follow recipes and there are so many ways to add sweet potato to a smoothie.I did a Google Search on Sweet Potato Smoothie and hopefully you can find one you'd like to try OR hopefully the original poster on this thread will post what she used! :-)http://www.google.com/search?client=safari & rls=en & q=sweet+potato+smoothie & ie=UTF-8 & oe=UTF-8 Blessings,Lea Ann SavageSatellite Beach, FL(321) 773-7088 (home)(321-961-9219 (cell)))><'>www.VitamixLady.comwww..com<))>< On Oct 16, 2011, at 11:56 PM, Renae Helzer wrote: I am fairly new to the group. Guest guest
I’m not the original poster but I have been making a smoothie with: 1/2 baked sweet potato 1/2 apple a handful of spinach 1/2 carrot about 1/2 cup pineapple rice milk ice a sprinkle of cinnamon I just made this up one day and I’ve made it several times. It is really good. It’s a nice change from berries.......but it does have fruit in it. Guest guest
Here's the one I use. I used HEAVY Cream instead of skim milk. Tony Ingredients 1 medium sweet potato, cooked, unpeeled and cooled 1/2 cup (120 ml) skim milk 1 small banana 1/2 golden delicious apple, halved 1/8 teaspoon nutmeg 1 tablespoon honey or other sweetener, to taste 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract 2 cups (480 ml) ice cubes

I cook it and mash it up with my home made dog food for my Italian Greyhound. Also give some to my desort tortoise outdoors and my canaries. All love it. I love sweet potato pie...m,mmmmmm. Guest guest
Janet, was it a smoothie or soup since you said it didn't have fruit in it? > > > > I am fairly new to the group. Guest guest
You could certainly reduce the amount of maple syrup. I just threw it together. I added the maple syrup one tablespoon at a time to get a flavor my husband would like. And my sweet potato was very large. This batch made enough for two people and a little more! Maple syrup contains manganese, zinc, and natural antioxidants too. They are finding more good things in it every day, so I don't feel as guilty having it on occasion - especially in the place of sugar. People also may want to substitute almond or rice milk in place of the yogurt to make it a vegan drink. Thanks for commenting! ~katrat > > Sounds good, but wonder if one could cut the amount of maple syrup and still get a yummy mix. 3TBS is about 120 additional calories. I might try it with two, and maybe some stevia if it needs more sweetening, as long as the maple syrup flavor still comes through. > > Ginny
Guest guest
Having been raised on a farm that made maple syrup, plus many crops, I have a lot of support for the use of maple syrup, but do try to limit it, the same as I do honey. We used to also raise bees!! ;-) Just was trying to figure out if a little less would taste just as good, and I'll give it a try! Good you did it a TBS at a time and found the right amount for the big potato.Ginny From: Kat Rat <katratvet@...> Sent: Monday, February 6, 2012 6:58 PM Subject: Re: Sweet Potato Smoothie You could certainly reduce the amount of maple syrup.
