Hello from Texas! I'm a newbie to not only this site but to owning a Vita-Mix. I've had a Vita-Mix on my wishlist for approximately 40 years....so yes, I'm dating myself somewhat here. I finally decided that regardless of what this year brings, I was fulfilling that wish list with my dream machine. I've been owned by her for about 3 weeks now - we're having quite a love affair.

Just to let you know - for Christmas, I have presented co-workers with 'Dean's Nutter Butter' - made to Lea Ann's specifications (thank you Lea Ann!). It was E-Z! If I can do it, you all can do it. I have to come up with 5 more jars of this 'most addicting' stuff so instead of M & Ms, I'm going to use the white chocolate morsels....mmmm!

I will say, however, there were times during the grinding that my machine made some beyond awful noise...sounded like it was grinding up the tamper...seriously. (It wasn't bogged - it wasn't slowing - but it actually was making some 'metal against metal' noise - scary!) I knew it wasn't touching the tamper and just tampered away, and it seemed none the worse for wear and tear when I made my next green smoothie, but I was having some second thoughts there for a bit.

Anyway, wanted to jump in here and introduce myself. I've already gained some great knowledge and confidence from this site and the many youtube videos - no regrets here with my investment, except maybe I should've bought this many, many years ago. If you're thinking about it, don't - just do it..go buy one! You're going to love it!

BTW - I guessed and just did 2 cups of each - turned out great!

I was thinking of trying this too! So just to clarify, does that mean 1/2 peanuts, 1/2 chocolate up to the 4 cup line? I haven't even tried regular nut butter yet but I assume your great tips for that still apply here?>

You are right Marnie - it would end up as 2 cups of m-n-m's and 2 cups of honey roasted peanut butter. It is pretty runny when first made and firms up nicely in the fridge for long term storage (I've stored it in the fridge for up to three months). Before taking to a party to serve, I'd get it out of the fridge the night before so it is room temperature and easier to spread. Ritz crackers are especially yummy with Dean's Nutty Butter on them.I always make this in HUGE batches (and give the jelly mason jars full of it away as Christmas gifts) and I use my Champion Juicer instead of my Vitamix. I wonder if I should go buy some honey roasted peanuts and m-n-m's and try to make it in the Vitamix to see exactly how it turns out.I am pretty sure it would turn out just like peanut butter. For the "cleaning out the Vitamix" drink, I'd be tempted to add only almond (or any other kind of) milk and spin it until it was HOT! A new twist on hot chocolate!

Lea Ann,First, just in case you don't read all I wrote, MERRY CHRISTMAS to you and ALL on the group. When you use your Champion for this, are you running M-n-M's along with peanuts, alternating the ingredients? or, Just how do you go about doing this? I nearly always use my Champion to make my nut butters, don't like the difficulty of getting the butter out of the VitaMix. Yes, I know, I can make a smoothie out of what is left in the container, but by the time I get the bulk out I can make several jars with my Champion. Besides, if I want a peanut smoothie I can just add the butter to my milk and chocolate. When I make peanut butter I usually use the large can (48oz) of Planter's and it doesn't take long to empty the can and fill my containers. No stopping to

empty, just keep running until finished. I do let it cool a little while I am changing out containers to receive the nut butter. And, with real hot soapy water the Champion cleans up easily.Anyway, you peeked my interest in this Dean's Nutty Butter. BTW, is that a brand name, or the name given to the one who came up with adding M-n-M's to the butter? Thanks always for the great job you do for all of us on this list. Hi ,

Welcome, and thanks for this info. I now have the confidence to do this! I bought the honey roasted peanuts and mason jars yesterday, and now I just have to hit Costco for the M & M's.

I see from your signature that you rescue dogs. Thank you for that!

MERRY CHRISTMAS to you too ! (and to ALL :-)I mix two large bags of M-n-M's with 5 cans of Honey Roasted Peanuts in a HUGE bowl and stir it all up, then scoop out the mixture to pour into the mouth of the Champion. I usually buy two cases of mason jelly jars and this fills one case nicely with some left over. Now that we have been experimenting with substitutions for the M-n-M's, I make less of the Dean's Nutty Butter, and more bowls full of 50/50 blends of nuts and chocolates or chips (in the case of butterscotch).I "invented" the 50/50 blend of M-n-M's 20 years ago (when I first got my Champion). My middle son's name is Dean and I was looking into marketing my "invention" and wanted to give it a catchy name in case it ended up on grocery store shelves one day. Because Dean is the "middle child" I figured he should get the honor - plus, it sounds better than "Austin's Nutty Butter" or "Luke's Nutty Butter" ;-)I've done a lot of market research and although there are chocolate flavored nut butters on the market, there are NO nut butters on the market that are made with real chocolate in a blend. I know that if I got serious about this, I could start out demonstrating/making/selling it at home shows and get brand awareness, then branch out into stores. The only thing holding me back is that health is a core value of mine and I'd have such a hard time putting all of my energy behind a product that is so unhealthy. I KNOW that it is ok to treat yourself from time to time, but still there is something holding me back. One of these days, I'm going to get a booth at PAFB ( Air Force Base) and test market my idea. For shows and demonstrations, I plan to make it on the spot which would add a real fun touch to the sales process!

If your demo is done with your Champion, you'll have to start selling them too - LOL!!!

I have been inspired to try this with my Green Star (similar in structure to the Champion).  It sounds like a great way to make little Christmas gifts.

Quiet moments, worship God. Painful moments, trust God.

Every moment, thank God.

Lea Ann, I've known from the beginning you are one cool lady. Let me encourage you to think seriously about marketing your idea. Don't know about those things but could you obtain some sort of patent, copyright, etc..? I look forward to getting the ingredients and running a batch to test on my Grands. Thanks again for all your help. For the "cleaning out the Vitamix" drink, I'd be

tempted to add

only almond (or any other kind of) milk and spin it until it was HOT! A new twist on hot chocolate!

Awww,You are too kind. I could certainly get a trademark on "Dean's Nutty Butter" and the way to capture the market share is to be the first, and to grow fast quickly and get a lot of brand name recognition so that all of the copy-cats are perceived as just that… copy-cats ;-)

Just to let you know - for Christmas, I have

presented co-workers with 'Dean's Nutter Butter' -

made to Lea Ann's specifications (thank you Lea

it.  I have to come up with 5 more jars of this

'most addicting' stuff so instead of M & Ms, I'm

going to use the white chocolate morsels....mmmm!

I will say, however, there were times during the

seemed none the worse for wear and tear when I made

my next green smoothie, but I was having some second

Anyway, wanted to jump in here and introduce

myself.  I've already gained some great knowledge

maybe I should've bought this many, many years ago.

If you're thinking about it, don't - just do it..go

buy one!  You're going to love it!

BTW - I guessed and just did 2 cups of each -

turned out great!

Here you go, Champion Juicers. Made just down the road a little

ways, in Lodi CA for over half a century. It would be 30 to 40 min

drive for me, but in all these years I have never been to Champion

(though I have been to Lodi many times, I am not "Stuck in Lodi

again" haha). You gotta be my age to get the joke from a long ago

song. Anyhow, they have always had a great reputation.

What makes a Champion...

a champion?

Quality

and value. Our passion for promoting

healthy living through the consumption

of fresh fruits and vegetables extends

nearly a half century to the

introduction of our very first

Champion Juicer. Since that time,

we've continually refined its

operation and meticulously enhanced

its capabilities to extract every

ounce of nutrition and flavor from the

fruits, vegetables and grains you

enjoy the most.

The

Champion 2000+ Juicer* includes a

number of features that bring the

power and durability of commercial

juicers directly to your kitchen

less of the Dean's Nutty Butter, and

more bowls full of 50/50 blends of

nuts and chocolates or chips (in the

case of butterscotch).

I "invented"

the 50/50 blend of M-n-M's 20 years

ago (when I first got my C!

hampion). My middle son's name is

Dean and I was looking into marketing

my "invention" and wanted to give it a

catchy name in case it ended up on

grocery store shelves one day.

Because Dean is the "middle child" I

figured he should get the honor -

plus, it sounds better than "Austin's

Nutty Butter" or "Luke's Nutty Butter"

;-)

I've done a

lot of market research and although

there are chocolate flavored nut

butters on the market, there are NO

nut butters on the market that are

made with real chocolate in a blend.

I know that if I got serious about

this, I could start out

demonstrating/making/selling it at

home shows and get brand awareness,

then branch out into stores. The only

thing holding me back is that health

is a core value of mine and I'd have

such a hard time! putting all of my

energy behind a product that is so

unhealthy. I KNOW that it is ok to

treat yourself from time to time, but

still there is something holding me

back.

One of these

days, I'm going to get a booth at PAFB

( Air Force Base) and test

market my idea. For shows and

demonstrations, I plan to make it on

the spot which would add a real fun

touch to the sales process!

Yes, I know, I can make a

Question about Dean's

Nutty Butter

You

are right Marnie - it

would end up as 2 cups

of m-n-m's and 2 cups of

honey roasted peanut

butter. It is pretty

runny when first made

and firms up nicely in

the fridge for long term

storage (I've stored it

in the fridge for up to

three months). Before

taking to a party to

serve, I'd get it out of

the fridge the night

before so it is room

temperature and easier

to spread. Ritz

crackers are especially

yummy with Dean's Nutty

Butter on them.

I

always make this in

HUGE batches (and give

the jelly mason jars

full of it away as

Christmas gifts) and I

use my Champion Juicer

instead of my Vitamix.

I wonder if I should

go buy some honey

roas!

ted peanuts and

m-n-m's and try to

make it in the Vitamix

to see exactly how it

turns out.

I

am pretty sure it

would turn out just

like peanut butter.

For

the "cleaning out the

Vitamix" drink, I'd be

tempted to add only

almond (or any other

kind of) milk and spin

it until it was HOT!

A new twist on hot

chocolate!

Funny I was thinking about that today as I walked through Costco and

spotted one of their giant bags of peanut MnM's. Wonder if it would

be too much chocolate, but you could add some peanuts.

You can do that, but there is something about the HONEY roasted peanuts that adds a "special" touch. What is it??? MORE sugar!!! (yup - not good for you at all, but oh so yummy…)Honey Roasted Peanuts make an unbelievable tasting peanut butter as compared to plain peanuts - this same comparison comes through in the Dean's Nutty Butter if you try the peanut M-n-M's (I know, I tried it). BUT I can assure you that even though it didn't taste as good as traditional "Dean's Nutty Butter", blended peanut M-n-M's are good - what is not to like about chocolate peanut butter - regardless of how you get there??? Thanks for the welcome Velda! Yes, I have fond memories of 1977 - wished I'd bought mine back then considering my first offspring was born in 72! I was making my own baby food back then anyway, but think how wonderful it had been to have this handy little gadget in my back pocket.

Just a quick update on my PB making talents..:) I finished up my "Nice List" for Christmas gifts last night and instead of using the M & Ms, I used the milk chocolate chips. My machine seemed to be much happier with that, and while it still growled, there was little groaning and moaning. It worked wonderfully and the product was 'finger lickin' good' (literally....LOL!)

I told my husband about the recipe (you know, the type 1 diabetic

who fairly often I have to rescue from a low blood sugar because of

his tight control) said, wow, I could never eat that, it is so much

sugar.  I know him well, I answered, "It's not meant for you to eat

the whole batch at once". He then laughed and said, well why not?

haha

I had so little information back when my boys were born in 80 and 82

that I forgot to use it to make baby food. Well that and I hated

that stupid spout that got clogged with stuff, esp making small

batches.
