Vanilla in lotion?

I have a question about vanilla. I was making a lotion with cocoa

butter and virgin coconut oil, and it smelled almost like chocolate

candy... " What this needs is some vanilla, " my nose said. I don't

have any vanilla fragrance oil, but I've got natural vanilla extract -

since the lotion has a water stage, I just put a little in there

(half a teaspoon, in a batch that makes almost a quart of lotion.)

My question: is there any reason I shouldn't put vanilla extract in a

lotion? I've heard that vanilla can be a skin irritant; is this the

case with the extract as well as the oil? Does it only bother some

people, and I could help avoid sensitivity issues by putting it on

the label? It smells fantastic. I've been making this since last

August, and it's one of my consistent favorites; I haven't sold any,

but have had some requests for it. I could get some synthetic

vanilla fragrance oil and replace the extract with that, but would

that be a benefit or not?

Thanks,
