Guest guest
Folks, Do any of you know firsthand of universities offering post-secondary programs for adults with developmental delays like our kids? I thought Mason (in DC), NKU (Northern KY), and Marshall (West Va), did, but cannot seem to figure it out... Thanks in advance, Eleanor
Guest guest
Eleanor, My son is 14 so we're not there yet it but I did attend a break out session at national conference that had encouraging information. IIRC 27 states had some form of post-secondary university or college programs for people with intellectual disabilities. The website thinkcollege.net is specific to " college options for people with intellectual disabilities " . You might check there for options. > > Folks, > > Do any of you know firsthand of universities offering post-secondary programs for adults with developmental delays like our kids? > > I thought Mason (in DC), NKU (Northern KY), and Marshall (West Va), did, but cannot seem to figure it out... > > Thanks in advance, > > Eleanor >
Guest guest
South Carolina now has 5 post-secondary programs. Clemson University University of South Carolina College of ton Wofford (I think that is right) Coastal Carolina University We have been to an open house at the LIFE program at Coastal Carolina University, and loved it. We are planning on her attending there September 2013. She is very excited. Some programs now also qualify for Federal Student Aid. Coastal is one of the first 5 programs in the nation that was approved for this.
