i read from a 20 year veteran soaper substitute 4 oz beeswax for 2 oz oil in

a cp recipe to prevent ash also i put platics wrap on the soap (literally

touching) i have no problems oh the beeswax will make a harder sweet almost

smelling soap (traces quicker too) i hope this helps

I like to use 1 oz. (just like superfatting the soap.)

Play around with it and see what you like best.

Hi ;

Here is a recipie for beeswax soap. It is from Elaine White.

Beeswax Soap

16 oz weight olive oil

1 oz weight beeswax

2.2 oz weight lye

1 cup water

Melt the beeswax with the olive oil. Oil and lye water temperture about 150

degrees F. Traceing time about 12 minutes. Time in molds 48 hours Age 6 to 8

weeks.

I have made this batch of soap and it turns out beautifully. Only I add 1

tablespoon of castor oil to the oils. I add my fragrance at trace.

I have also made this same recipie only using milk in the place of water.

The soap turns out a tan color with the natural scent of brown sugar candy.

Question, when you put the pastic wrap on the soap, how do you get the soap

nice and smooth looking? everytime I have tried the plastic wrap, I have

pockets, and dips...thanks )

about the plastic wrap and the smooth factor LOL!!! i use reynolds first off

it is thicker and creates a better seal in my experiance ( i use it to wrap

soap sometimes the colors are cool) i have tried saran and glad too. i tear

off an over size peice lay it diractly on the soap and smooth it out with my

hand to the egde and up the sides of my mold or edge whichever applies. i

smooth it untill the there are no pockets (a few seconds) with light

pressure. i never insulate my wood mold with a towel i hope it works out for

you too!

The amount being sold really varies, depending how the beekeeper intends to

do with it. Here we buy it in round blocks 7 lbs. or more at a time. Other

beekeepers though rely on the income of beeswax and so sell it cleaned, and

molded in smaller blocks. Prices will vary too, this is a fluctuating

market. It is currently $3.00 lb. uncleaned, 7 Lbs. or more (here in

AK).Don't know if this helps you any but I do get curious at what prices are

elsewhere. )

Also, sometimes local health food stores will have small blocks of beeswax,

even an ounce, cleaned. You should buy as small an amount as neccessary to

play with in different recipes, you may not like it. But then again, you

will probably *love* it!!!

sure he would have some for sale. I am interested only in the cleaned stuff.

Hi Bev.

I get my beeswax off of ebay. The place is in Texas, I believe the company

is called Texas Drone.

He sells it for $4.00 a pound and it is cleaned. He sells it in 3 pound

lots, two pounds and a one pound block, and he ships it by priority mail.

The three pounds that I bought costs me $15.00 including postage. It has a

lovely smell, just like honey and it is very pure and natural color.

I also get white granulated beeswax from another gal. If I remember

correctly she sells it for $4.95 a pound. When she gets her web page up, I

you want I will send the Url for it. I like the granulated to use in

cosmetics.

was $4.00 a lb uncleaned.

glorybee has beeswax pastiles(beads) white very nice . at that website i gave

it is 3.25$ a pound no minimum order it can come in sheets or blocks i

ordered 30pounds and paid 107.00 shipping etc if my memory serves me correct!

i use their pastiles (glorybee for lip balm) but the slab beeswax @

silverbowhoney i use for candles mostly and in soap to prevent ash in bars i

have had experience to ash! i am looking for the recipe i use the honey and

bees wax in hold one................

found it i call it scrub-a-dub--12 fluid oz cold milk (or half milk and water

all milk of coure will be very dark but given the smell it suites) 8 oz

coconut 4oz olive 20 oz palm oil 1/2 oz steric acid (you can do without) 3 oz

beeswax 1/4 cup honey fruity vanilla f/o(sweetcakes) 5 oz lye 20 drops whild

chamomile,tsp calendula 1/2 cup crushed oatmeal. it comes out dark and smells

like an oatmeal cookis so good you almost want to bite it really the smell

permeated my house i hope it works nice for you! i created this recipe for

oily/sensitive skin but my skin is very dry and it leaves my skin so soft and

no ash LOL!!!- tamika

after trying to find it @ glorybee i looked at my bag and said duh !! sorry.
