Guest guest
Ok, so my son started with a new guided reading teacher and we got books sent home, which we read and promptly returned as instructed. The next day, I got a paper back saying " You need to return this book... " in red ink. It was crossed out and there was a sticker placed over it. Apparently, they found the book was in the bag after all. This time, it wasn't a big deal, but it flashed me back to events in the past where I have had a lot of difficultly dealing with " exchange of property " with the school. Lost shoe inserts, lost book, lost x. I know that schools have issues with parents not checking book bags and not returning items and other books. I'm sure they get used to the idea that some parents aren't paying attention. I am NOT that parent. I know exactly what my child leaves and comes home with every single day. I do not think the full-time paras assigned to my child are quite as dedicated about this. I have problems with papers not being sent home from the classroom for weeks at a time. Picture order forms sent home AFTER they were already due back at school. Items like shoe inserts, books, etc lost at school and them insisting that the child never arrived with them. So, how do I deal with this legally in the IEP? Thanks,
