Guest guest
hmm, Jeff's down as Nick's CRH worker. He gets $7.18/hr., no more than 4 hours a day (since Nick is still in school). Even though he is a nurse he still has to have a first aid card (he has a CPR card through his job). Re: was Feeling the need..now reimbursement rates When my sister was my PCA and we had only PCA hours and not on the consumer support grant she was making $11.50 Year 1 of the consumer support grant my sister was paid $12.00, I paid myself $11.50 Year 2 of the consumer support grant my sister was done being 's PCA (she was done with nursing school) and I was paying myself $12.50, then towards the end of my " year " I had my friend Nikki as 's PCA at first it started out at $15.00 and it was for a weekend care (sister's wedding) then I had a breakdown and told my case worker that I physically needed some help so I got to have Nikki on longer. This year, I am at $11.75 and Nikki is at $12.00. The most that the state of Minnesota says I can make is $14.71 but since hubby is a self employed construction worker and there is no benefits with either job, we have to keep our income below a certain amount so we can get insurance through the state (it is like medical assistance but we pay a monthly fee and copays and all that jazz). Guest guest
We live in Texas and are on a waiver. The waiver does not pay us but does pay for an attendant who does not live in the home, which we use our parents and a college student as attendants. Through the waiver, she gets 25 hours of respite. The respite pays $9.75/hr. The state rate is actually higher but we go through Consumer Directed Services, which means we do hiring, firing, training, and paperwork and an agency does all of the payroll so part of the funding goes through the agency. When we went through an agency only, they only paid minimum wage with no benefits and no raises. A nurse came out quarterly to check on her through the agency. Through the waiver, she also receives Medicaid so she qualifies for Personal Care Services which pays for assisting with activities of daily living. Due to her behavior problems, she gets a slightly higher rate of $11.73/hr after paying the agency for payroll. But even when we went through just an agency, they again only paid minimum wage even though they were given a higher rate. I have hired 2 people through the local college and they both have been absolutely wondeful as I am very picky. One was a Pre-OT student and the only reason she is not with us is because she got pregnant and her Mom made her move back home. Our current one is in nursing school but will graduate this May. I advertise for Special Ed, Nursing, pre-OT, or PT students who want to gain experience working with a child with special needs and have had really good responses so far. I seem to find the ADD/ADHD students seem to work better with Adena for some reason and they probably would not do well in other settings so it is a good fit for us. - If I went through even one of your nightmares, I probably would not even have anyone to help! Guest guest
We live in Tx also, gets respite and habilitative care. It pays $8 ph (24 hrs a month) for respite and $10 for hab. care( 43 hrs a week). We also do consumer direct services, so I can pay my daughters more than the agencies pay. Once they each turned 18 I could pay them for what they had been helping be do their entire lives. I can also decide what benefits they get, like sick pay, vacation pay and a gas allowance. Right now he is in the CLASS program. When he turns 18 I can start getting what my girls get, we can also choose to stay with CLASS or change to the HCS waiver. We tried hiring a young man for . He was great with and loved him! But he wasn’t dependable and I was often scrambling for a way to get him home from school. He will still watch or take him to movies or something, but not regularly any more. I am hesitant to hire someone else, because did get so attached and really missed having his buddy here everyday. , mom to 14yrs ds, Kayla 23, 19, and mawmaw to 2 1/2yrs From: Karyn Sent: Friday, December 03, 2010 12:32 PM Subject: was Feeling the need..now reimbursement rates We live in Texas and are on a waiver.
