We had a hard time getting the dose right but he is quite stable on it now. Quite a few behavioral issues decreased when we got his thyroid issue addressed. Guest guest
Hi You might try investigating a naturapathic doctor, or if that is not a financial option, look on the internet for alternatives to the drug you are taking. There are 'natural alternatives'. If you are near a Whole Foods Market, they carry a whole range of alternatives, but it is better to have the guidance of some health practitioner you have some confidence in. Don't give up. And lastly, Is this thyroid thing part of menopause? Guest guest
Thanks for your advise. No, not menopause in my case. I have not reach that stage yet. It could have been caused the wrong type of salt used in my diet for a good 20 years of my life. Nowadays everyone is aware about checking the constituents of all the groceries and foodstuffs we buy and iodised salt is highly recommended, people are now much more aware and conscious of the effect food has in our health and general wellbeing and so you will find most people do read the details written before they decide on their purchases. When i was young, my mum did all the shopping and she is illiterate, salt to her was salt if it looked like salt and tasted right. She too is suffering from the same problem which did occur during the onset of her menopause. She takes the same tablets that i do and suffers all the same problems in her health in addition to age related problems. Maybe it could have been insufficient digestive enyzmes / absorption factor. My diet was not lacking in iodine because being a born non-veg, eating redmeat and white meats and all milk products including the vegetables and fruits........i still got this problem. So its a long process which came to screeching halt by showing itself in some 3 months, when the symptons just matched the diagnosis and the lab tests proved it so. So the doctor's advise and prescription was the only option to take (ten years ago) until now that i became a computer literate person and decided to check up the search engines and look for to increase my knowledge of all alternatives available through other sufferers' experiences. I have tried Homopathic therapy, it didnt work out for me. I have also done crystal theraphy, that too didnt do much for me because the lab test didnt show changed results and there was no change in my health....or appearance. My gland is whole in shape but it does not produce the amount of hormone needed by me. So i decided maybe changing my diet completely from that i was brought up on, could help control the problem, so i am still experimenting with foods and herbs. Thank you for your time and advise, i will try out the address given by Jeanne.....of the Portland, Florida clinic, as i do know someone living in that area who can help me out. All i now need is the willpower to change my diet to veg and half raw.....because that Florida clinic theraphy is all for veg and for raw foods, with natural alternatives theraphy so i will have to bear out withdrawal symptoms of the kinds of foods i just love to eat - cheese burgers, pizza, pasta, barbeques and heavy curries........they all have to just go go away together with the fizzy drinks! As long as i dont have to take synthetic hormones and bear its side-effects. Guest guest
Riswana- I had a thyroid imbalance and the doc put me on sythroid- it's not quite as intense a drug. If your reaction to the meds is making your lide less wonderful I would suggest trying something else. For me, I diet based on living ( raw foods) with a low glycemic index has helped- I no longer take thyroid meds at all. An amazing book full of info, recipes and guidelines for a transition to a healthier diet is " Rainbow Green Living-Food Cuisine " by Cousen's, M.D. NO one should be made to take a synthetic pill everyday of their lives if there is a way to cure the imbalance through diet and excersize. Sure it takes a lot of more effort than just swallowing a little pill, but the pay off is way worth it. Best wishes, and don't give up hope. Guest guest
Dear Taya, Thanks for your experience info, looks as if yours was handled rightly by you changing your diet at an early stage so you got control over your situation, and didnt take the doctor's word for word prescription. All these years i did not look for alternatives to that prescription because i thought that was it........and lately i have come realise just how wrong i have been to be so trusting of the medical fraternity. I have started on a strictly vegetarian diet (cooked) starting Tuesday this week. Let me do it for a month and then i do half raw diet, then go for a lab- test after 2 months and see for myself whether it is working out right, the way it worked for you. Of course i do intend to use herbal alternatives too after a month. God willing and with my willpower to improve my situation, things might just work out to my advantage.........and do away with the tablet. Thanks alot for your encouragement.........it is inspiring Regards, Riswana taya irizarry <tayairizarry@...> wrote: Riswana- I had a thyroid imbalance and the doc put me on sythroid- it's not quite as intense a drug. Guest guest
Hi. I haven't been very active in the group for a while. My daughter is seven year old, Emilee. We just recently got the results of her thyroid test and they are elevated. Last year they were 3.5, this year they are 7.6. We are supposed to take her to an endocrinologist, but he can't see her until March 21st. I haven't really noticed any difference in her health or behavior. I have tried looking it up on the internet but she really isn't showing any of the symptoms that they list. She is full of energy and doesn't get tired in the middle of the day. I was wondering if someone could tell me what their child experienced. Thanks for your help. Christley
Guest guest
Myah tends to get dry skin and dull-looking hair when her meds need increased. She had a hard time getting up in the am but wasn't tired during thr day. We monitor quarterly because she can change fast. She alos put on weight when she was way off. Oh yes, she had headaches too. The meds don't bother her at all. Sent from my Verizon Wireless BlackBerry Thyroid Problems Date: Friday, December 3, 2010, 6:28 AM Hi. I haven't been very active in the group for a while.
