I can imagine how hard it is for them because they can't bend but they always find their own way of doing things. Let us know how she does. Guest guest
When was first put in a cast I used to stack 2 Boppy pillows on top of eachother and then have her sit in the middle of them. Since she was only 9 1/2 months old when she was first casted she couldn't sit on her own with the weight of the cast. This way she was protected and secured all the way around and she could sit and play. Should work the same with the brace. She'll adjust and find her own way of doing things. didn't yet crawl and didn't learn how to when she was in her casts, but instead "scooted" on her butt to get around. They're smart and figure out ways to get where they want. Just stay strong and don't give into taking her brace off bc/she's crying or else she'll know that that's all she has to do in the future when she doesn't want it on. Do the best you can to distract her. Not sure how the weather is by you, but maybe take her for a walk in her stroller or something to get her mind on something else. Guest guest
Funny that you mention taking her on a walk. i used to do that daily since the weather has been so nice. however this weekend my husband accidently ran over our double stroller! She does like going on walks we have to wait till late after noon or towards evening since it gets pretty warm out and i dont wnat her to hot in her brace. Guest guest
I guess I don't know. I suppose a peditrician would tell you not to let her sleep in one though. I would think she would be ok when sleeping since she's laying flat and doesn't have to bend or move too much.~Noah 4 1/2 years old9 months of casting in SLC; Currently on 2 years of bracing at 6* in braceAnd Mariella 15 months old - resolved Infantile Scoliosis infantile scoliosis treatment From: softballchick105@...Date: Tue, 13 Apr 2010 16:12:23 +0000Subject: Re: wish me luck i was wondering what to use when i put her to sleep would a ben bag chair make her more comfortable sleeping with the brace on?>> > You could also try a bean bag chair. Guest guest
That stinks about the stroller! I wasn't sure where you lived, so yeah since it gets hot there you don't want to overheat her. I know it's difficult and hard on you to see her so upset, but she really needs to have her brace one. Staying strong is all you can do right now. She'll get used to life in a brace and will adjust easily. I'm not sure of her story or situation. Was she casted before? What is the degree of her curve? Where is she treated? You can do it and if you need anything, dont' hesitate to ask, we are all here for you! Guest guest
yeah i didnt know maybe if i bought like a pillow wedge or something likethat if it would help her go to sleep since her brace props her up a little so her head is not even with it so she does not like to sleep with it on. i put her in bed with me last night so i could watch her sleep so make sure things went okay with the brace. but i didntk now if i could find something a little firmer than my pillow to prop her up with or what anyone else uses for there kids > > > > > > You could also try a bean bag chair. Guest guest
, we found out aubrey had scoliosis when she was 10 months old. I knew before that but trying to get our doctor to agree was another story. We finally got sent to childrens mercy after going to the chiropractor for a month. and thats where we met dr.anderson. He was wonderful in explaining everything. we went ahead and did an MRI that following friday that we went to childrens mercy jsut to make sure there was nothing else wrong and everything came back clean! We were so thankful for that. On marcy 17th she got her brace and was wearing it every 2 hours off 30 min. out of brace shes 50* in brace shes 36* so were hopeing that since we have kept her in the brace every 2 hours and off for the 30 that it has hopefully improved . espically with me sticking with the keeping it on her all the time now. i have not given in! shes in her bouncy chair as i type this and seems to be doing okay until i look at her and thats when she starts crying! She does not fit in her swing outside because the brace is so bulky so we have to go find a new one of those! but all in all i think its more stress on me than her! and i hope in the end its all worth it and everything turns out good!
