Guest guest
Well we went to the Neurosurgeon last week and has a tethered spinal cord, so now we have to untether it (a 5-7 day average hospital stay). This is where I am a tad mad that it got missed. I got another package from Children's hospital and back on Feb 20th 2009 the nurse practioner from the urologists office ordered a renal ultrasound, VCUG and an abdominal x-ray, the main reason for the visit to the urologist is because I had spent 5 years trying to potty train and I was at my giving up point, and thought okay there is something medical going on or he is really low functioning. Anyways on the Abdominal X-ray it showed that he had stool all throughout his large intestine and rectum (typical for Down syndrome, nothing new to me there), but the number 2 finding is what caught my eye, it said that he has a bilateral coxa valga on the proximal femurs, what it basically is, the head of your femur when fitting into your hip has a 120 degree angle to fit in there, well with his is 130+ degree angle (I haven't had time to look at the picture to see if I could measure it or not, and we got in with an Orthopedist on the 27th of this month and plus I have big tests coming up in school), but when I was researching it out a little bit according to one website it said it could be one of 24 different syndromes, and no Down syndrome wasn't on there, I could exclude a few of them by having the karyotype when he was a baby (like the 46XXXXY syndrome, and the 2 different chromosome 8 abnormalities). Got good news from the eye doctor today, his nearsightedness is getting better - eventhough he isn't wearing his glasses (he has a love/hate relationship with them some days/moments he loves them then the next they are busted - eventhough they are breakage resistant, his insurance pays for them but it is just a hassel to go in what seems like once every 2 weeks to order new glasses), his alignment looks fabulous and that we don't have to see her for a year!! When she said that I was like Woo Hoo!! I said Dr. P I love you but I see you way too often, so being able to do once a year is just great!! We have an appointment with the genetic doctors on November 18th, just have to find someone to get the girls to school for me that day since his appointment is the same time the girls get on the bus. As I know more, I will keep you guys updated!
