Hello mirthfullady,You have a commercial version of our machine! The 3 means 3 horsepower. Otherwise, a Vita-Prep is the exact same thing as a 5200 except it comes with a commercial (shorter) warranty while the 5200 comes with a household (7-year) warranty. The 5200 has a 2 HP motor. But all of you 5200 owners (that includes me), don't think that you are missing out on anything - the extra horsepower for the Vita-Prep 3 goes to running a fan (the assumption being that the commercial machine will be running all day and require extra cooling power) it does not significantly improve the machine's performance. :-)

Aloha,

My kitchen is under renovation, but since I joinedmthis group, I keep thinking about using my vitamix more. So, I just spent an hour and a half digging and I FOUND it!!! :) Yippee! However, it seems y'all talk about the 4800 and the 5200 and my vitamix is a Vita-Prep 3. It came with one (2 liter) container and a black plastic tamper. It does have variable speeds and high and low. The small container sounds great. Can I use it with this machine? Is mine different than the ones y'all are talking about? I've never had a problem with it, just wondering.

Thanks,

mirthfullady

Aloha,

excellent! Thanks! (Makes sense, I bought it at a restaurant supply store).

Can I use the small canister with it?

How much better is the dry canister? I have ground dry things in mine, I just

use speed 3 or so.

Thanks,

mirthfullady

Hello,Yes, you can use the small container with it.Here is a post that explains how the dry container works. That was not the objective (subject) of the post, but the information is in there:/message/12271

Aloha,

Excellent!

Thank you!

That sounds great! When my renovation is done, I'd like to get a small

container and a dry one. Where do you recommend for the best price? Do you sell

them? The vitamix website? Costco?? :)
