Guest guest
Dear family and friends. OK.... the name is...... SCOUT (from To Kill A Mockingbird) She is a little " Scout " . She is so adorable. She is peeing/pooping outside very well. The girls (Hannah) ignored her " cue " today and she had one pee accident. But otherwise, she is really doing well in the housebreaking department. She is playful, her teeth look great, her coat should get better as she continues to get better nutrition. She will need her stitches out about the 12th and I need to find a vet for her next vaccination around the 20th. I will just remove her stitches myself, if they look good and not worry about the vet doing it. After I get those stitches out, I will give her a bath. I don't want to do that until I know that she has healed well. The site looks good. She is very playful and plays very nicely. She follows us around. She is barking at the cats but they will put her in her place, eventually. Mostly, they are avoiding her. She loves her crate, thank goodness! I am glad that they were crate training her. Just so happens that we had a very large plastic dog crate so that was handy. We used it to house the cats when we were in a hotel for 3 months plus for the long move from MD to El Paso, so I have just kept it. LOL She is coming to us when we call her " Scout " . When Alden says her name, it is SO CUTE! He was a little out of sorts all day. It was a lot of excitement for him, we ran out of yogurt (his comfort food), and his Daddy had a job all morning... so he has been a handful. He is very happy about the puppy. He was very sad when I could not pull off the road to find him a restroom and he peed in his pull up. I had to try to explain to him that it wasn't his fault and that for this time, it was OK. He was concerned and that is ALSO a good sign! He still would not poop in the toilet today. I will attach or post the few photos that I could get. Every time I tried she moved. LOL. I should have gotten out the Flip Video, I guess, but today was just a bit hectic with all 3 kids, the new pup, the neighbor dog came over and didn't want to go home so he hung out here and played for a long time. (This is the dog we kept for over 2 mos.) We finally had to get to come over with the leash to take him home. (Oso). I could keep him, too, but he isn't for sale. LOL. Scout loved playing with Oso and Oso loved her. The older dog could probably help teach her some things but I don't want him to teach her how to jump the wall!! :0 What else.... spent some money today, that is for certain. Still some things I need to get but we did have the crate. I think I would like a walk through gate to keep her out of the back of the house. That way, the cats have a place to go rest and get away from her and I don't have to worry about the carpet. The front of the home is linoleum with some rugs, so that is no big deal. Also, the kids rooms have too much stuff for a puppy to be in at this point, I think. I am so tired. I took a nap, too, but still need to get to bed so that we can take care of the dog and also make it to church! As I have watched her and been able to see her face now, I really wonder if she has some collie in her, also. There is possible retriever, newfoundland, collie mix in this dog. The set of her eyes and her nose, at times, seems to be collie/newfie perhaps? I would love to get her DNA checked to see what all she has in her! Honestly, she is so darned fluffy and cute, it is hard to leave her alone! AND she seems to have a drier mouth than I thought she would... but time will tell on that one. heh heh heh. Love to all! Guest guest
OK..I had to stalk out Scout on your facebook to get a look. She is adorable! She looks like a black golden retriever..she has that boxy head. Black goldens do exist - they are not desirable in the breed (for those fancy dog snobs, anyway). She is going to be the best thing for your son!
