Guest guest
Actually, the notarization is required for anyone to accept the form as a completed document. I was a licensed daycare provider and decided not to continue due to all the regulations that they throw at you. IF you fill out the form and say that you object to the immunizations, be forewarned, that any agency collecting that information has to report you to the state health department here in Minnesota. I could not believe the nerve of the government on this issue, but apparently, they keep a database of families who don't immunize. If you claim that you do not vaccinate for medical reasons, then you have to have a MD signature on a special line for that exemption to be accepted. If you can avoid giving that form to anyone, it may be in your best interests. It is not avoidable in most circumstances, but how scary! I have friends through some other groups are being pressured by the CDC to immunize. They are harassing them with mail and phone calls, even offering money to complete an interview. Several of them are seeking legal action. This is scary stuff where the government doesn't belong, in my opinion. This is what I have seen, the forms were just updated to include the new August 1, 2004 requirements. Other people may have had different experiences. -- Re: Fw: Vaccine Articles & WHO estimates... Last time we had the big discussion about vaccines I think it was Sara who was concerned about how to " prove " you're not just neglecting your child by not getting around to vaccinating but that you're are consciously deciding not to vaccinate. I just read that the big state-wide homeschool group recommends that you notorize your decision not to vaccinate. If I remember correctly, the school gives you a form to list the child's vaccinations, but at the bottom you can sign that you object to vaccinating. Guest guest
Sara, The database thing just really rubs me wrong. Why would the government keep such a database and consider us a threat, but anyone who receives treatment for drug or alcohol problems gets full confidentiality! Not to crack at anyone, but drugs and alcohol pose a greater threat to our society than kids who are protected from laboratory grown concoctions that are supposed to change our bodies to protect them from things that we will never likely be exposed to. Now to clarify, I have 5 kids so far. The older 3 were vaccinated. The oldest 2 have gotten every " required " shot there is. I have been selective with the next 2 and the last one only received one full set. It was about that time that I had had enough of the political garbage with all the vaccine hype and stood up for myself and my family. Also about the time that the medical community started turning on me. Try finding OB care when you don't believe in modern medical practice except as a last resort! I am now expecting our 6th and have found a midwife who is travelling 2 hours to me due to my medical history of fast labors. BUT, that is a whole different story!!! The new requirements were for the chicken pox and meningitis vaccines (can't remember the official vaccination names!). To enter Kindergarten or 7th grade, the kids have to have them. For the chicken pox vaccination, you can avoid it if you can prove with medical records that your child actually had the disease.......funny considering most doctors around here won't even allow you to make an appointment if you think it might be chicken pox! I am not sure how that kind of proof can be done if the doctor never actually saw them and there are no scars. As for the friends, they are in several different states. I don't think any of them are in Minnesota, but we are watching closely. Most of them are home schoolers, so it could be that the school districts are starting the fluff, but who knows. I am becoming more distrusting of the government with each little bit that I learn about health and nutrition and life as a whole. -- Re: Re: Fw: Vaccine Articles & WHO estimates... , Thank you for sharing your experiences! Yup, scary, it sounds like. I imagine the State maintains a database of non-immunized families just so in case of an epidemic, they will know exactly who to look to first in assigning blame for causing the epidemic: the non immunized folks. Honestly! And, what are the new requirements added on for August '04 ? And, one last question, if you don't mind- your friends who mentioned being harrassed by the CDC for not immunizing, do they live in Minnesota too or in a different state? Thank you so much again! Guest guest
Hi Stacey, Just to answer your question about how they know if your child is immune to chicken pox. They do a special blood test which shows whether or not you are immune. When I worked at the Children's Home, they did those tests all the time to see if a child had the antibodies in the blood. Guest guest
Jane, Thanks for the response on this one. I have been slow to read my emails. I was just talking to a friend about this and their children have all had chicken pox, but never saw a doctor. The doctors here won't bother with blood work, it is just easier to vaccinate anyway. It is funny what they see as cost effective. It seems better to add something to your body that won't be needed rather than check to see what it already has. Of course, I am in the boonies up in the northwestern corner of the state, but I wonder how many providers see it this way. For those closer to the Cities, it may be easier than it is up here. The doctors here just want you in and out, they don't want to take the time to do blood work unless it serves their needs.
