The Neutralizer gel in the Miracle II product line works great for a

sunblock as long as you keep applying it. It is not waterproof so doesn't

work for swimming. I tried it on my VERY fair blonde 15 year old daughter

last year who burns VERY easy and as long as she applied it every hour or

two it worked!

I have not yet tried it myself, but I keep hearing that " Skin So Soft " by

Avon is supposed to be so good as a bug repellent. Anyone else try it?

Minnesotans can handle most anything except for one thing.... BUGS.

(actually two things, HEAT is the other one, but we're not talking about that).

I've never seen people so nutty in all the places I've lived. In 25 years of

vet

practice I have had people BEG me for the " strongest thing there is " for (fill

in

the blank)..... fleas, ticks, lice, mosquitoes, flies, spiders, bees, wasps,

hornets, aphids, ladybugs, roaches, daddylonglegs, grasshoppers, moths,

june bugs, box elder bugs, gnats, no-see-ums, deer flies, horse flies, YOU

NAME IT!

I call it BUGOPHOBIA. People would buy weapons-grade plutonium if they

could. And these are the " natural " subset of people! Most of the insect

problems are actually imaginary too! (Itchy dog = gotta be fleas!) Anyway, I

could go on and on about this loss of rationality. My corrupt brotheren in my

profession gleefully sell billions of dollars worth of toxic waste to people

every

year. Vets are so corrupt they actually cheer on new epidemics that will

peddle vaccines or killer products. Whipping up FEAR in the populace is the

#1 way to create sales. Ka-ching!!

AVOID all those pet products that are in collars, spot-on or oral. They are

extremely dangerous to the pets and the family. They actually work by

making the animals blood POISONOUS to insects that bite them! Would you

like to have blood that will either kill insects or render them sterile? I don't

think so. Obviously, one should avoid DEET and other " Off' " style

insecticides.

I have sold a Great Lakes Tanker full of the following mixture and with great

success:

TICK REPELLANT (works for mosquitoes, fleas, flies, etc)

MIX:

1 cup Avon Skin-So-Soft (or mineral oil will work)

2 cups White Vinegar

1-3 Tbsp Herbal Shoo (herbal repellant)

OR Citronella oil

OR Eucalyptus oil

Put this mixture in a mister bottle and use as needed, usually 2-3 times a day.

Works on animals and humans. Not toxic but do keep it out of the eyes.

If you have a HOME full of fleas, bedbugs, roaches or other insects:

dust the whole house with BORAX (or the commercial version

FLEA-BUSTERS). and don't vacuum it up. Put it in the bedding, around the

floors and in closets. It's fairly safe but don't breathe it in huge quantities.

In general, avoid DIATOMACEOUS EARTH powder as it causes silicosis if

breathed in.

I sell an herbal product for animals that is primarily a human product. it is

sold

as SKIN RESCUE BALM. It is good for burns, infections, fungal problems,

rashes and so on, but particularly good to take the sting, itch and toxic

problems away from insect bites or stings.

A friend of mine and I are coming out with a new pre-mixed herbal insecticide

for humans. We have sold it to farmers for many years for fly problems with

cattle and in the last few years for horses to avoid mosquitoes. It happens to

work for humans too, it's non-toxic and several friends of ours have gone to

3rd world countries where vaccines are required and they used this instead.

Most of my pals will NOT get the vaccines required to travel but we don't want

malaria either. More on this later.
