Question about alopecia areata

Does anyone have any experience with alopecia. My (14DS) has

developed a couple of bald spots on his scalp and we have been told it

is alopecia areata. The doctor thinks it is stress related. Did you

treat it? With what? Was the treatment effective. If not treated, has

the hair regrown by itself? So far we are just waiting to see what is

going to happen.

Any info is appreciated, sooner is better. Quite worried.
