Guest guest
Hi All!! I bought a Vitamix on Tuesday, and have used it several times for green juices. When I have it on the variable setting, it sounds the same when it is set at 1 as it does when it is set at the highest setting, and it doesnt seem to do a low setting. Am I doing something wrong? Would appreciate your help
Guest guest
Hello ,The switch that can be flipped up or down (opposite the switch that is the on/off button and looks just like it) is in "Variable" mode when down, and when flipped up it is in "High" mode. When flipped up (on high), it is an override and the variable control knob is irrelevant (does not work). When in the down position (on variable) your variable control knob will work.At variable speed #1, the machine is running about 4 times slower than a blender. At variable speed #4-5ish, it is running about the same speed as a blender. At variable speed #10, it is running about 2 times faster than a blender. On High, the blades are spinning about 4 times faster than a blender!IF you have the switch opposite the on/off button in the down position (variable) AND there is still no difference in the sound between #1 and #10 then your machine is not working, and you should call the 800 number on the back of your machine to arrange for repairs. Vitamix will email you a UPS call tag and pay for shipping both ways!PLEASE let us know if the switch was on high, or your machine needed repairs! Guest guest
Thanks so much Lea AnnI called the helpline number, and they told me that the difference in noise level on 1 and 10 is not discernable to the human ear! Is that correct?Im sure that when I saw the demo, it definately was discernable!!I cannot hear any difference at all, and that just doesnt seem right to me!Kind regardsOn 16 Sep 2011, at 14:39, Lea Ann Savage wrote: Hello ,The switch that can be flipped up or down (opposite the switch that is the on/off button and looks just like it) is in "Variable" mode when down, and when flipped up it is in "High" mode. Guest guest
No - that is not right. I just called Customer service (and got ) and she said to call her directly at 1440-782-2517 and she will trouble shoot this for you. She agrees with me that of course you can hear the difference between variable speed 1 and 10. Guest guest
Hi Lea AnnI rang the UK helpline again and they assured me that the previous information was incorrect, and they offered me the option on returning the vitamix to Costco for a replacementor having it collected to go to the workshop for repair. Today was the last day for the demo in Costco, so although it was inconvenient, I went over there, and they werewonderful. They replaced the machine immediately. So I am a happy bunny again!! Thanks for your help.Kind regardsOn 16 Sep 2011, at 16:41, Lea Ann Savage wrote: No - that is not right.
