Guest guest
Hi Kathy, I have a Vita-Mix which is fabulous. It is very expensive but it is also a commercial blender. It is used by Orange Julius in the malls. I use it for almost everything, but to grind grain or anything dry, you have to purchase the dry container which has different blades. It makes soups hot, and ice cream cold. Once I overheated the blender and it would not work. I called the company and they said the chances of me hurting the motor were almost nil and that I should just put the whole thing in the refrigerator for a few hours and it would be fine. I did that and it was working again. I do not know anything about the Tribest blender. Jane Tribest vs. Vitamix > Does anyone have any experience with either of these blenders? I know > Mercola recommends the Tribest. I am looking for something to make > smoothies, nut butters, vegetable juice and maybe soup and ice cream. > Thanks in advance. > > Kathy > > > > > >
Guest guest
I also have a vitamix that I really like. I appreciate the variable speed dial and I like how it makes it very easy for me to can tomato sauce in the fall. All I do is throw in whole tomatoes- skin, seeds, everything and let it do it's thing. They always have a big booth with ongoing " cooking " demos at the state fair, under the grandstand. Plus you get to eat their samples. Lynn
Guest guest
We never thought we would be like those people who buy MOPS (why is it always 2?) at the State Fair but we were so blown away by the Vitamix guy at the Fair that we got one and lugged it around all over the fair! That was about 5 years ago, but the dang thing was wimpy and burnt out after only a few uses. Of course, it's always possible we got a bad one. Sending it in for repair got too complicated so we just chucked it. Now we use a variety of things for mixing, grinding, processing: 1) Waring Pro blender (2 speeds, which is plenty)-It's powerful too 2) Krupps Ice cream freezer, the kind you keep the element in the freezer 3) Whisper Mill--for grain-The one they sell at the Acres USA conference 4) Cuisinart Food Processor (we use that for everything else) Sweet! 5) Kitchenaid Burr grinder for coffee (Saves big money on beans) 6) Our old Krupps coffee grinder for daily flax seed grinding 7) Kitchenaid Pro mixer-amazing tool for people like Rebekah who cook. If there is anything we have learned with ALL TOOLS = GET THE BEST! (otherwise you will end up spending more money for more junk). We usually go directly to Kitchen Window or places like Sonoma. Buy it once and keep it forever. These things have paid for themselves 100 times over because they don't break and they make you want to stay home and cook good food.
