Guest guest
Hi All My Son Drew will be 14 in 1 month. He's non verbal. Very vocal, but non verbal, He's had speech therapy all his life. Lots of private with the minimum amount they actually have in school. We've done sign language, picture boards, picture books, smaller machines that have words spoken into them for use. and so on and so on. So finally we decide to try for the big machine. We have the meeting, Drew gets to try it out and they tell you about all the stuff it can do and how it's not a magic cure but it should really help alot. bla bla bla, but in that 1 hour meeting, my son was able to answer questions and tell me how he felt, that he wanted to go to mc donalds and what he wanted there. No big deal right. I cried like an idiot. The cost is ridiculously prohibitive but the insurancee will cover it all. Sure after they jerk you around for 6 months then tell you all the reasons why you don't qualify! So now we have to appeal and start the process over and fill out all the stuff again. I just want to say. I'm so tired and so irritated. My son can not talk. What more do you really need to know? Is that not what the device is for? Seriously, I am so tired. I don't know why Everything has to be such a stinking struggle. Frustrated and Irritated Debbie F Drew 13, ds, Veena 23, ds Isaac
