Guest guest
No only is it OK, I think it is preferable!! My legs also need some wake up time and I need at least 5-10 minutes before my heart slows down after. Lynda
Guest guest
: I ALWAYS do a 5 minute warm up and cool down--whether I am doing HIIT or a longer run. I also do a 4 or 5 minute light walk on the treadmill before I do my weight lifting sessions. Everything I have read says that this is a smart idea--it gets your muscles warmed up, loose and ready to go. I don't think I could do my HIIT as effectively with only a 2 minute warmup. If you are hitting your 9's and 10's, keep doing what you are doing. Sherri > I was curious if it was okay to do a 5 min warm up and a 5 min cool > down with my 20 min cardio. Guest guest
Thank you Sherri and Lynda! I'll feel better about my warmups and cooldowns now. > > I was curious if it was okay to do a 5 min warm up and a 5 min > cool > > down with my 20 min cardio. Guest guest
Not only do I do 5 minute warm up before, and 5 minute cool down (or until my HR goes back to normal) - I also do some light stretching between my warmup and starting my HIIT or 20 minutes. 5 min warm up - light stretch - hammies, hips, quads, calves go right into intervals cool down BIG stretch. (I also do about 5 minutes walking at a brisk pace followed by a ligght stretch before weightlifting.) Guest guest
Thanks Jill for the breakdown. I've been using that chart in the Files folder called " Treadmill for beginners " (I'm on my second week). I've changed the numbers to suit my own workout. I'm already doing more than thought I could! > > I was curious if it was okay to do a 5 min warm up and a 5 min cool > > down with my 20 min cardio. Guest guest
> > But are 3-20 minute sessions a week really enough? If you do true BFL cardio, you will be dying after your first session. Believe me, I thought the same thing. I came to BFL after doing 60-90 cardio sessios. Step, kickbox, etc. After hitting my 10s on my first 20MAS I thought I was going to DIE! Colleen
