Guest guest
Hi everyone. I think I posted something before about having your local DS organization use the Disney Give A Day, Get A Disney Day program to change your communites. We are offering a new opportunity I am very excited about, and I wanted to let you know about it, because people with Down syndrome can earn a free Disney ticket volunteering with this particular opportunity. For our Make A YouTube Video Supporting Inclusion! opportunity, we are asking people to make and upload YouTube or Hulu videos showing inclusion of people with Down syndrome in a positive manner. I have pasted the opportunity description below. (Note that because we JUST created this opportunity, it may not be up on the disney site for several hours.) The idea is to use social media share sites to expose tons of people to the idea that people with Down syndrome belong in their communities with everyone else. Plus, because we verify either the person making the video OR the person with Down syndrome that is in the video for the free ticket, its a volunteer opportunity open to people with Down syndrome. Your local DS organization can sign up to become a volunteer verification partner for free and offer this and other volunteer opportunities at  http://vop.handsonnetwork.org/  . If you cannot get them to sign up and offer this opportunity themselves, we have not put geographical restrictions on this opportunity (as long as we don't get swamped), so you can make a video and submit it to us through the opportunity we offer. Just go to http://disneyparks.disney.go.com/disneyparks/en_US/WhatWillYouCelebrate/index?na\ me=Give-A-Day-Get-A-Disney-Day  and fill in a Chattanooga zip code at the bottom- 37412 will do- and search for this opportunity, offered by CDSS. Amy Petulla Can you create and upload video to the hottest media-share sites around? (Hulu, YouTube...etc) Can you reach people, get their attention, make them think? We're seeking videos showing the positive side of including people with Down syndrome in the general community, whether at school, work, or play.  So create and upload a Hulu or You Tube video 1 to 3 minutes long to get the world to open its arms and embrace people with Down syndrome. And if we like it- we may ask you if we can use it more places. Who knows… you could become a star! Create the video and name it - the video and name must be positive, and the name must include " DS OneWorld " in the title. While it can contain people with other disabilities, it MUST prominently contain at least one person with Down syndrome, as well as at least one " typical " person, working or playing TOGETHER. The setting can be school, work, church, playground, entertainment venue- you name it! Upload the video and then send me the link at amyp98@... . Only one person can receive volunteer credit per video, and it can be either the person who makes the video or the person with Down syndrome who is in the video. In your email sending us the link, give us the name of the person making the video, the name of the person with Down syndrome in the video, and the names of the other people in the video, as much as possible. Thank you to Blood Assurance for letting us copy their wonderful idea!
