Hello ,

Welcome to our group. Sorry to hear that you have been diagnosed with

RA. I know how it is to have excruciating hip pain as I have it too. My

OA Dr. has me on Relafen 500mgs. as I can't take surfar drugs. Bill, my

husband, was diagnosed yesthday with OA and he is taking Celebrex 200mgs.

He has it in his hips, and back.

Celebrex has a WEB site. www.Celebrex.com if you would like to check

it out. I have 800 number for Relafen 1-800-886-4865. I called that

number and gave them my address and they sent me booklet called " Postive

Steps " with some other information.

I used to take ibuprofen but that didn't help. Then I took Napoxen and

that didn't help. I left off taking that because it made me VERY

sensitive to sun light. I used to get terrible headaches and have to

wear my sun glasses in house. Since I no longer taking medication I am

okay but it took 2 weeks before I felt better.

There are alot of other nice people on here that can help you too. They

have helped me. I used to just read messages and try and learn

everything I could but now I try and help if I can.

I do alot of research on WEB but not through juno. I use my husband's

account on Servetech.

We only have one computer so makes it hard but when he is not on working

I come on.

God Bless,

Kay

Hello Jan,

Thank you for explaining how Serzone works as no one ever told. I take

it twice a day and YES, it does help. I don't know what I would do with

out it. I have taken it since last Oct. when my primary care dr. told me

I had some kind of arthristis but he didn't know what. That is when I

began to hunt for a RA specialist and I found a good one. Dr. Tammi

Shlotzhauer, M.D., she is head of Rheumatology Dept. of Unity Health in

Rochester, NY. I called in Dec. and she was booked full. There was

cancelation and I was given appointment for Feb. If not I would of had

to wait till April and I didn't want to do that pain I was in. I have OA

in my back, hips, and hands. I also have heel spurs. I am now taking

Relafen 500mgs in AM as I can't take sulfar medication. It is helping! I

still have my bad days but I feel much better.

I pray you will continue to improve.

God Bless,

Kay

Hi

Somethere in one of our official books it gives a recipe for salad dressing

which is basically olive oil, lemon juice and mustard powder. I've gotten

kinda lazy and just use the olive oil and lemon juice.

If you are a Type O, I would suggest making your own. Finding something

without some type of vinegar is almost impossible. I have purchased Dr.

D'Adamo's second book, " Cook Right 4 Your Type " . On page 326 is an Olive Oil

& Lemon Dressing, using lemon juice to give it the sour aspect. You can

modify it as you wish, adding whatever herbs and spices are ok for Type O. I

use basil, chervil, garlic powder, arrowroot, oregano, etc. I also use

lecithin, which helps it to stick together better. You can also use it as a

sauce for fish (yummy on salmon) or vegies. I haven't tried it on meat!!

Happy Food!!

Hi all,

I have not written lately, am always listening....Chacne (6 yrs) woke up

yesterday crying that his lower legs were hurting. It went on about all

day. This morning, again, the same thing. He is fine if he is sitting

or laying, but when he walks he is walking on his tippy-toes and his

knees are bent outward. He says he cannot walk with his heel down b/c

it hurt. Is this something others experience due to CMT? He told me

that his legs have hurt there before, but never to this point. I am not

sending him to school today, and am worried. He has a doctors

appointment March 15 with a new dr. b/c the one he has now just says

there is nothing that can be done, that it will progress..da da

da....you know the story. So anyway what do I do until March 15.

Yesterday when we left the house we had to carry him to the car b/c he

was in so much pain getting down the stairs.

I will be eager to hear the tummy tuck goes, mine us scheduled fir the last

week if July. My surgeon has said that it's no worse that the open hernia

surgery. I've had two of those and while they aren't painless, they aren't

unbearable either. You're more sore than in pain. Are you having any other

procedure done at the same time? I'm having the hernia repaired for the

third time along with the tummy tuck. Same location, just slightly different

side that the first two. You'll do fine, and have a wonderfully flat tummy

to show off. Keep us updated,

Hi , I have a terrible cold with cough that is kicking my ass. I feel

like hell and am as mean as a snake. Reading you diatribe made me laugh my

wheels off. I pictured you zooming down the road to the new house with the

witches music from " the wizard of oz, " playing in the back ground. I know it

wasn't funny to you, but your story was written so well, it was a great " pick

me up " for me. You are my kind of people. Too bad we're not neighbors. I bet

we'd have a blast together. Hopefully things are getting somewhat orderly

now. We moved in May and I'm still waiting to get the first picture hung. Oh

well, maybe before the new year. Take care, Vickie in Atl.

My experiences echo Kim's. Desens didn't reduce the polyps - neither did

cortisonne tabs much - only surgery. Only then do the drugs work... But

only time will tell if it reduces the rate at which the polyps grow back.

So far things aren't working well, so I'm trying a completely new tack -

raw food diet. I'm sick of taking tablets of any persuasion! Meanwhile I'll

continue with all my bottles of pills and hope that the diet will take the

load of this silly immune system.

Six months after surgery (fourth) I don't have a sense of smell - unless I

take prednisolone. My sense of smell returned off and on for a couple of

weeks after surgery (which took longer to heal and was more painful this

time, to the surprise of the surgeon). I had to go off aspirin for several

weeks before the surgery, so had to be desensed again soon after. Doctors

won't operate if you're taking aspirin.

all the best,

WHat you described was the same for my daughter . Our surgeon (Dr.

ANderson, Salt Lake City UT) also recommended that I massage Vit E oil

into her incisions (after the first week) to minimize scarring.

Hello!

My daughter has had 2 surgeries for her BPES. Our plastic surgeon says it really doesn't matter what you use to massage the scars. VIt E ( or whatever ) is just used to reduce the friction and really is not absorbed. He says it's the massaging that helps remove the older skin cells and encourage new ones to be produced which decreases the scarring. At least this was my understanding. My daughter actually did it herself using vit E.
