Guest guest
This recipe looks good but I don't have the jojoba oil. I do have coconut oil, safflower oil, hemp seed oil, almond oil and olive oil. Could I substitute any of these? Thanks,

Guest guest
You could substitute, but I don't know what kind of results, because i have not tried it. Jojoba oil is really good, as it is a natural sunscreen. Give it a try and let me know how it works out with another kind of oil! >From: silvermaplesoap@... >Reply- > >Subject: Re: Frustrated with LIPBALM/Oil Sub Question >Date: Sat, 10 Feb 2001 09:10:29 EST > >This recipe looks good but I don't have the jojoba oil. Guest guest
Hi all, Can anyone substantiate the statement that jojoba oil is a good sunscreen? I've never heard this before, and just checked two of my reliable sources, neither of which mentions jojoba as a sunscreen. As for replacing it in lip balm, you can use any oil or just omit it, but nothing is really comparable to jojoba itself. Jojoba is really a liquid wax, not an oil, and it is very similar to the skin's own oils. It is very easily absorbed and very emollient. You only need a small percentage of it in a lip balm, maybe 10%. It is an excellent ingredient in lipbalms, creams, and lotions. Guest guest
Hi, I read your post and yes in a book that I got called nature in cosmetics and skin care, it states that jojoba oil helps protect the skin against harmful sun rays and prevents skin dryness due to sun and wind exposure. The book is about natural ingredients in cosmetic that can be used.

I'd love to be able to order it, but its hard without an author or isbn #. thanks
Guest guest
Hi, I have heard that also, about jojoba and sun protection. The only thing is you can't make that claim on your lip balm, and it has never been " documented " anywhere. It is such a tricky thing. >From: ameticulous@... >Reply- > >Subject: Re: Re: Frustrated with LIPBALM/Oil Sub Question >Date: Mon, 12 Mar 2001 21:58:45 EST > >Hi, I read your post and yes in a book that I got called nature in >cosmetics >and skin care, it states that jojoba oil helps protect the skin against >harmful sun rays and prevents skin dryness due to sun and wind exposure. >The >book is about natural ingredients in cosmetic that can be used. _________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com.
