Guest guest
My little grandson, , not an aspie, said the other day that he thinks, "Jesus brings all the presents." He seems quite convinced of this, and I have not tried to deter him. Well the Bible says that, "All good gifts come from above," so I think he is on the right track. We have talked quite a bit around here about fantasy and reality, and he came up with this on his own. I thought it was cute, he is only 5, and quite a precautious child. That means advanced. Once the doctor called my granddaughter precautious so I looked it up in the dictionary. Thought it meant bratty before. Carolyn in Oregon, snow is getting down lower today, aaaaaaa! Santa You know, reading thru the posts, i think it's great that some our kids still believe in Santa. I also think it's great that some of our kids WILL question and want to know and analyse. But the nicest thing is - we all seem to have captured the spirit of the season - a time to give as well as receive. I enjoy spending time choosing things for the people i care about. We've really cut back the amount of people we buy presents for - partly thru choice and partly thru necessity and in part also the fact that in the case of a couple of folk, no matter HOW much time, money and effort and THOUGHT you put into the choosing of a present, they didn't really want what they were given (or even put a face on to look as if they wanted it!) So we cut basck. I can't say that we spend much more on the remaining presents, but it's nice to have the time to buy things for people i want to share with. THe nicest present i think i've bought this year is for my frinds baby. He'll be nearly 8 months. We bought a Roo from the IDsney shp. (the baby kangaroo from winnie the pooh). It's SO soft and cuddly i couldn't resist! And i bought a liittle ornament for his room. It's piglet and roo, in an upturned umbrella - so sweet that i couldn't resist! Oh, i'm rambling - sorry!! I just love the whole christmas thing of being with My hubbie and kids and spending time together. I think part of me never grew up!! Which is why 2 days after christmas, i'm taking my kids to EUro Disney for 4 nights!!! Guest guest
Huh, that was precocious, not precautious. Sometimes the spell checker makes a boo boo, it didn't even give me precocious as a choice. Hmmm. Carolyn Santa You know, reading thru the posts, i think it's great that some our kids still believe in Santa.

I’m sure the baby will love your choice…….Talking of gifts, some of the most thoughtful and appreciated gifts to were from a friend of mine who stops at yard sales(looking for antiques). When he was especially into dogs at 9, she gave him dog mugs from a yard sale. She has given him an antique lantern. When she went to Italy she brought him back packets of sugar from the different restaurants(he was into different sugars and their packaging). She also brought him bread sticks with interesting packaging. For his birthday this year she brought him a jar of home made salsa and a hot pepper from her garden. He really liked this, as these are things he has an interest in. I really appreciate the effort she makes for . The gifts are simple, inexpensive and yet so thoughtful and appreciated……..Gail
Guest guest
Louie just doesn't want as many gifts this year; his list is really short. Just 3 books and a DVD. All I've asked for is a bottle of Exclamation and a sweater. And my dh would rather die than indicate a preference for a gift. So this year, for the first time ever, my dh and I are able to help a child on our church's Angel Tree. It's part of the National Prison Ministry and we're collecting gifts for the children of prisoners in our state. Anyway, we " chose an angel " to shop for: a 6 year old girl named Estrella who wants a Barbie. Her name is so close to my mother's name (God rest her soul) that I couldn't resist. And it's something we've wanted to do for years. So I really feel full of the Christmas spirit this year. Partly because of that, and partly because I've been nominated to be an Elder in our church. The Presbyterians ordain Elders with the same ceremony used to ordain ministers, and once ordained (in January) I'll be an elder the rest of my life. Meanwhile, my term of committment is 2 years, the committment being to ensure that the 6:00 p.m. Saturday and 10:45 a.m. services go smoothly. Anyway, as a part of all that I helped decorate the church last Saturday morning. And there's nothing like hanging garlands and decorating a Christmas tree to put you in the Christmas spirit! Ho ho ho, y'all! Annie, who loves ya annie@... -- Madness takes its toll. Please have exact change ready. -- anon of ibid

Guest guest
Sorry I am late chiming in on this one. When My son turned 13 we told him that Santa only brings presents to children 12 and under. Once you turn 13 you make a list for Mom and Dad and family to give you. This way he would let other kids believe in Santa but not talk about what Santa was brining him. We also talked about how Santa was the spirit of Christmas thus not saying Santa does not exist. When he turned 13 he asked if Santa was bring presents and we reminded him that he was to old and Santa had all those little kids to do and We did it now. He is 22 now and understands how it works and makes a list for us.
