Finally the long awaited vitamix that I have been saving for (and shopping for)

for ages has arrived.

I can't wait to try it!

One question before I get started, I opened it and put the container on the

base, but am surprised how loose it is. Shouldn't it be held in place more?

Could the container fly away when it starts to work? I have never actually seen

one in person before, just the online videos so it is hard to tell if this is

right.

Puce smoothie for breakfast will be the test tomorrow, I guess. Hopefully the

walls and ceiling won't need repainting by afternoon?!!!

, I have owned two VitaMix's over the past 34 years (original,

which still operates, and the new one which I got cuz I wanted it -and

it's new clear containers). I have never had a container " fly off " . I

supposed you might feel it is loose, because the container sits over the

gear the way it does. The weight of the container and contents keep it

in place. You do want to be careful not to hit it so it lifts sideways

as that could damage the gears. Never start the motor before putting

container in place and never remove container while motor is running,

but otherwise you should be fine. Did you watch the dvd that comes with

it? It is very helpful.

Thanks for your answers and help!

I used it twice today, a huge green smoothie for breakfast that was unbelievably

smooth! And then for lunch, a batch of hummus that the kids and I ate right off

the spoon before it even made it to the fridge.

I cant get over the texture of those two things. The hummus was as smooth and

fluffy as any store bought (though I am still breathing garlic!)and the green

smoothie had no lumps or stems left at the bottom!

Best birthday present ever!

Now to have some fun going through the group messages and files to get more

ideas for using it!

Say, that hummus is terrific as a sandwich with tuna fish salad. A nice thick layer of hummus then a second layer of tuna. Maybe even a big thick slice of summer tomato on the plate.Sent from my iPadOn Aug 6, 2011, at 9:47 PM, Lea Ann Savage <lsavage@...> wrote:
