Guest guest
Dear Carmen, So very sorry to hear of this. I will call my friend ha a little later this day. It is too early for her to be up and around as of yet. If you recall, she had a large tumor removed from the base of her skull last year. Hers was cancer, and she also has it in her liver and bones. She is hanging on by the tips of her finger nails. She did however have a very good surgeon. He is in Milwaukee, WI. If you would like, I will try to get his phone number etc. Please let me know. Your friend, tricia Wisconsin ***************************************************************************** -- O.T. Good morning my dear Stilligans. I have a favor to ask if anyone can help. Our best friends need knowledge of a great, brain surgeon. The husband has a tumor about the size of an egg or lemon and it's horrendous. The wife is a nervous wreck and is trying to locate the best doctor she can find, of course. Maybe some or one of you have had experience with knowing someone that has had surgery of that kind. We live in such a small town and need some recommendations no matter where a doctor is. We would appreciate any help in this direction. We are such a knowledgeable group that this is why I am turning to you. Thanking you in advance, hopefully. Mi. Carmen
Guest guest
Thank you Caroline for your suggestion on teaching hospitals. Our friend is going to go with the local surgeon here. I wish he wouldn't but I don't have any say so in the matter. At the least I wish he'd get a second or even a third opinion but.....no go. Tricia sent me a name of a doctor in Milwaukee that sounded very competent but my friend had already made up his mind. I hope this surgeon knows what he's doing and has an Oncologist standing by just in case it is malignant. I appreciate your help so much. xxoo Carmen
Guest guest
Carmen, Yes, I hope too that your friend has a good surgeon. The site Caroline posted included the hospital name in Milwaukee where the surgeon is located that ha had. That doc is supposed to be the best in the Midwest. Anyway, we all hope & pray that your friend has a good outcome, and that the tumor is *not* malignant. Please let us know the outcome. ~~across the Lake tricia~~ ******************************************************************** -- Re: O.T. Guest guest
Hi , Elly here.I wish you could open up about love and not be too angry.I think you would be shocked how many people love you just for the person you show you are in your posts.I think there are many kinds of love, but they all mean,I care. Of course I am alot older than you and many others in our group, but I went through my whole childhood with a parent who very seldom showed they liked me let alone loved me.So I take any and every opportunity to tell someone they are loved. Some just can't say it, it doesn't feel natural, and thats ok,but it doesn't mean they don't need to hear it.So with all this said,I love you as a wise woman with good advice to give and a fellow sufferer of a disease not many family members can wrap there brains around, let alone everyday people. We each need something different from this group and hopefully they get what they need from at least one member. Thanks for being here. love Elly

Guest guest
Now wouldn't that be a fine sight, bite marks on my butt! Actually that is probably exactly what would happen,I don't have the best balance and those little critters sure act mean! Believe it or not when I called Bill and told him, he said I'm leaving now to come up there! Well I just about had a fit, does he think I can't handle anything? I am a country girl at heart and I at least figured out which neighbor to call! lol They now appear to be gone because my dog Bear isn't barking or trying to get out of his pen.I only let him stay in long enough to do his business and then he comes in,I don't want him to get bitten either. Thanks for the great mental picture and laugh. love Elly

Guest guest
For those of you who don't care for Tofu, of which I am one.lol I have read on the web through a search than Seitan (wheat meat) can be used in it's place. There are some very easy recipes for this on the web, not hard to make. You can Google and take your pick.
Guest guest
Just a heads up, seitan usually contains soy as well as wheat. I think the tofu in the recipe we started talking about was intended as a thickener....I think I would be inclined to use a little tapioca gel, chia seed gel or even cashews in its place. From: Cat Lady <busresponsible@...>Subject: O.T.undisclosed-recipients@...Date: Wednesday, August 3, 2011, 6:15 PM For those of you who don't care for Tofu, of which I am one.lol I have read on the web through a search than Seitan (wheat meat) can be used in it's place. Guest guest
Homemade seitan may not contain soy. I have many seitan recipes that I make frequently that contain no soy at all. In fact, seitan I've made for a "turkey" roll, seitan filet mignon, seitan roasts, and a couple of my favorite burger recipes are soy free. I thought was referring to homemade, in which case, there are many recipes for seitan that do not contain any soy product at all.I rarely purchase commercially made seitan. I usually make my own. I started out making it and never picked up the habit of buying it. I also make it with soy (TVP, tempeh, or regular soy). I'm sure many of the commercially made seitan products contain soy. Definitely, the list of ingredients should be scoured for any mention it. LoriFrom: Berry <berrywell@...> Sent: Wednesday, August 3, 2011 5:44 PMSubject: Re: O.T. Guest guest
Yes, I was referring to homemade seitan, and I have made the roast in a crockpot and then cut it up and frozen the excess or use in recipes. -- O.T.undisclosed-recipients@...Date: Wednesday, August 3, 2011, 6:15 PM For those of you who don't care for Tofu, of which I am one.lol I have read on the web through a search than Seitan (wheat meat) can be used in it's place.
