Guest guest
Di - this is a tough thing for ANY kid. There are two books out there - " Dog Heaven " and " Cat Heaven " by Rylant - that are GREAT. Not so much for explaining what death is - Nic will learn that in time - but in making him feel okay that your cat is gone. Here is a link to " Cat Heaven " on amazon.com - you can get it used really cheap: http://www.amazon.com/Cat-Heaven--Rylant/dp/0590100548/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8\ & s=books & qid=1247837496 & sr=8-1 I'm not sure Jimmy (18, DS, PDD-NOS) really understands what death is, except that they are gone and won't be coming back. We are fortunate that we have not had anyone close to us die other than beloved pets...I dread the day that a grandparent dies. Good luck.
