- in some instances it is best not to listen to some of the

'experts', as often they have not experienced living with a person with DS

and have no idea than the negativity they have gleaned from a book.

In the meantime watch those ears and encourage plenty of sounds. Trent was

very vocal when he was little, he stopped when he started walking, the OT

thought it was because he was putting all concentration into walking. I

sort of believed that at the time, now days I wonder if an investigation

into ear problems may have turned up something which might have him saying

more today. Then again, he can say a lot more than he does so possibly not.

Keep smiling

Subject: Sorry I have neglected ya'll

I just wanted to say that I have just " caught up " on alot of ya'lls post and

I am sorry I have neglected to do that here lately. I am praying for all of

you who have children who are not presently well and rejoicing for those of

you who have had such great stories to post about your childs recent

activities. I feel like I have left you guys out of our lives for a little

while so let me catch ya'll up. My sweetie Sawyer just hit 6 months old and

is doin outstanding. Besides our one run in with RSV last march and one

suspected ear infection he has been in great health since birth. He

continues to amaze me daily. We have our first appointment with the doctors

at our area Down Syndrome Clinic in october which I am nervous about. But

the future looks bright for now. My son can Roll over Bear Weight on his

feet, reach for objects with both hands, scoot on his belly, attempts to sit

independently, and repeat the sound MA! I remember a time when I was so

super discouraged and thought we would not reach these milestones but boy

has he shocked me and his pediatritian and his PT. We are currently

organizing our Buddy Walk Team for october and I am so excited about meeting

other families like ours. God Bless you all and your angels! Look forward to

hearing from you all.
