Guest guest
What we share is experiences with children and adults Diagnosed with Down Syndrome. Even those who we love are extremely diverse in their abilities, capabilities, likes and dislikes. What we do not share is undeniably even greater - religion, family structure, political beliefs, favorite colors, favorite perfumes and I be there's even a few of us who don't like Poppins either. It is far, far easier to get offended than to breathe and choose to believe the person at the other end meant no offense. If you are offended and cannot let it go, the polite thing to do is say something. Having said that, it usually doesn't work. All we can hope to accomplish is an agreement to disagree. I personally have my own beliefs. I for instance don't read email forwards from anyone - my family, my friends, email groups - because as an IT professional I know they are the electronic equivalent of chain mail. Many of the stories are meant to manipulate emotions. Some of the stories are uplifting but I don't like being manipulated. But rarely do I respond back to people because I don't want to offend them. I also don't believe in evangelical christianity - the believe that poeple of a certain Christian persuasion must show me the truth in Jesus or they aren't living up to their faith. This is a hard one. Because its very controversial and again, I don't want anyone to be offended. So again my prayer, my thoughts, my hands lifted to the sun and hugs from my lovely sister in praise and glory for Diversity, our diversity. We are all different and beautiful in our differences. ana, my sister Angie doesn't care what the video said but she'll happily play with your hair or give you a hug if you'd like , Angie isn't one for prayers but she loves to play with paper or the aforementioned hair playing and hugs. As for me, I'm going to read some more magazines and practice my writing in hopes I can do some freelance work while I look for a new IT job.
