Sounds good Kbear!!! I know your excitment :). I make a soap with cuke

juice too and I layer it with soap made with carrot juice. My spa account

really " digs " it. (In her words).

Keep on soapin!

I made cucumber soap

sorry i just had to brag. lol. no one here really cares about soap so

I feel the need to tell someone since it is quite nice. Earlier this

summer my mother got a WHOLE basket of cukes for $2 and they were

nice cucumbers. and I though hey i can make soap with them as I saw a

recipe once before for it.

So i searched and searched and found one. then it was just a matter

of waiting for the kids to go back to school and my folks to go away

on vacation so i could have the house free for soaping. of course the

cucmbers are gone and I had to get new which now they cost more (of

course)

But I purreed some baby's up (small ones so it was less seedy and

more green specks from the skin. and made soap. I poured them in

lined pringles cans (yes i bought pringles just for the dang cans, I

have chips galore in zippy bags) so i got nice round bars.

suprisingly they slid right out(yay now i can save my cans for

another batch)

I made it last night and sliced it this afternoon. even though they

gelled and I didn't want them to cause I wanted them nice and white

they turned out REALLY nice, fairly white errr light green actually

with green specks. and smells so good.

I used some of that cucumber mellon FO from Joanns(It was expensive

but convienent. THing is it traced rather quickly and i had a

horrible time molding it. it was eith the FO or the fact that my oils

might have been too warm. The instructions said to cool to like 100

but I waited and waited and i just couldnt wait any more. of course I

had to melt a bunch back down in the microwave this morning and

remold it due to my molding difficulties last night but it was worth

the effort cause they turned out great. They are already nice and

hard. or getting there.

ok. sorry about that but i just had to share with someone. it turned

out so nice. and PURTY too.

Congratulations on the cucumber soap!! I made some this summer and it does

smell refreshing. One of my SIL's requests this whenever they are low on

soap. The problem is that you then want to keep it all for yourself and not

sell it.

There's no reason not to. I was going to do that when I make my next cuke

batch. :-) should I use watermelon or cantaloupe?

oooo i am sure they do enjoy that.

So two questions. What skin type would you recommend this for. since

the cucumbers can be very astringent. So im thinking that dry skinned

people should avoid it huh? then again i should check the oil

properies of the finished soap as it might make up the difference.

My other question is something my friend brought up last night. He

wanted to know why I didn't add melon to the soap if i scented it

cucumber mellon. I wasn't quite so sure what to say. I WAS thinking

mellon would have been nice and I had a little too. But I thought.

well I've never heard such a thing. Not once have I heard anyone

using mellon. or really much of any fruits in their soaps. I hear of

people using veggies mostly. I tried the whole " well it would rot

Idea " but he came back with " no more then cucumbers would " which is

soo true.

So tel me what IS up with that. DO people do it and not say anything

or is there a reasoning to this madness. not enough vitamin qualities

perhaps or what.

well im off to look at my soap once again and do a bit of sewing and

melt and pour(yes at the same time. see how I multi task.)

I don't know. I picture green with a reddish pink swirl or with a peach

swirl.
