Well, first, our respite worker's dad (she's only 13 and is one of 2 DS

kids she watches) almost didn't let her go because they had her younger

brother's birthday today and had a lot to plan for. Number 10 is a big thing in

the military, you get your own ID card and you can legally stay by yourself.

Plus, since DH wasn't here, they had to come get her. I had to back my time

getting home to 9pm (instead of 10pm). I ended up getting back at 8pm, but they

had gone out, expecting to not have to pick her up until 9 (or else she forgot

they were somewhere else). I got a book to help teach one year olds (for ,

and for the babies I teach at Church), and a Berenstein Bears book on holding

hands at the mall. Used my 20% homeschooler's discount (for Borders) and saved

4.40 on the total. I feel better, but I'll be glad when DH is off this

operation......

Here, you can stay alone at 10 and you can watch a younger sibling at 12.

will be 10 in May, and will get an ID card (because he can sign his name), but

obviously won't be staying by himself.

I know about 10, I can't believe that Sam will get his first ID in

September. Didn't know you could stay alone at 10. In the olden days it

was 13. I know some people that got their sticker scrapped at the

commissary for leaving a 12 year old inthe car. For 6 months they had no

sticker.

Esther (3). All adopted & with Down Syndrome.

Hello Everyone,

We are back from Italy and Brook is back from summer camp. We were in

Florence for my sister's wedding. We missed the wedding ( I was hysterical)

because the copilot's oxygen supply was low and we had to land in Maine for 1

1/2 hours. After that we missed our connection from furt to Florence.

We had to fly to Munich and then on to Florence. It was 14 hours on the

plane just to furt with my 2 yr old daughter sitting next to me!! We

finally made it to the reception at about 10:30 PM Italian time, they are 9

hours ahead of California time.

Anyway we had a nice time and I didn't worry about Brook too much. We

picked him up 2 days ago. His counselors seemed really great. They really

enjoyed having him at camp and getting to know him. They gave him a

certificate from camp that said Brook the Water Monster, Water Baby,

Charming, Pumpkin. They did have some trouble getting him to eat, but so do

we all. I think I would send him again.

He was supposed to start summer school yesterday but has been having

diarrhea and gagging so we are keeping him on clear liquids and the BRAT

diet. He is better today. I think he caught a bug at camp or ate something

off.

I am still struggling with jet lag. Just when I got adjusted to Italian

time we turned around and came home. Well now it's back to the real world.

Hi !

I'm so sorry for you and your daughter. I don't know if I heard it

here or not, but there have been cases of coming back. My son

is five and has . I think the only thing that makes me sane

through all this is that the doctors tell us that it will go away.

Hearing cases like yours make me more upset becasue these doctors say

they outgrow it and it doesn't come back. It comes down to that they

don't know anything on !

Good Luck!

and as it turns out has fluid in his ears and throat was red. Doc said

his ear pain was probably radiating from his throat. His brother (who did not

have a temperature either) tested positive for strep. I'm glad we got it taken

care of before the weekend.
