Wow, Katy, that's terrific! Better than terrific!

So sorry to hear about your thumb, though. Hope it's not serious.

Oh, wow, Jeanine! I'm so sorry to hear that! I did the Grape Festival

here in Naples this weekend and, despite the weather, did awesome. Made

a couple thousand and sold out of a lot of soaps. My biggest problem was

that I injured my thumb some how on Friday and woke up Saturday to a

hand that was completely swollen and incredible pain! It's amazing how

much we need our thumbs!! My husband got me a thumb support glove today

and it made it feel so much better. It was still very hard to write for

credit cards and very hard to pick up money but I managed. Half way

through the day today I got stung on the same hand by a yellow jacket so

now I'm down to just my left hand for pretty much everything. I can't

even see my knuckles on my right hand! I have the day off tomorrow and

will probably spend it at the doctors and then the hospital for xrays.

Oh well.... Anyway, I'm so sorry that this happened to you! I hope you

were able to recover some of your wares! That's such a shame. I'm so

glad this is my last outdoor show! You just can't rely on good weather

in the Fall.

Wow, Jeanine ... I'm so sorry that happened to you ... my parents did a

show in Carmel, IN over the weekend [my mom is a basketweaver], and it

rained ... said that the weather was *so* crappy. :( At least you did well

on Saturday! So that's good!

Disaster

Well, I had my first disastrous craft show!!! Saturday was cloudy with

threatening rain. Did very well sales wise. Got up this am raring to go.

The sun was shining but very windy. Got to the show to find my tent

upturned, some braces snapped, canopy torn, product all over the lawn, table

upturned. I did have weights on all four corners AND stakes in the ground.

This show was on a main go by the way. After cleaning up the mess I

discovered a three shelf display and product gone. I was, needless to say,

very bummed. The wind was still very high. Found out that 9 other crafters

lost their tents. A couple of the frames looked like modern art. I reset

my display but after about two hours decided to pack it in. Dark,

threatening clouds and the very high winds. Glad I made some money on

Saturday! Would have been a very good show but for the loss. I am so glad

I didn't sell my other tent!!

So, how was everyone's weekend?

Yeah, this year I tried something different. I made scratch off cards

" Thank you for visiting us...blah, blah, blah " and gave a discount for

ordering from my website. I'm hoping that will help with the Christmas

orders. People seemed to like the idea! I'm really hoping my hand is

something minor. I've got soap to make! Thankfully, my daughter helped

me label some stuff last night since I ran out of a few things and

couldn't cut anything left handed! :-)

Oh goodness Katy! Sounds as if you may have become very sensitive to bee

stings. Happened to my son a couple of weeks ago and thanks to my dil he's

OK. He didn't want to go to the hospital but insisted. Good thing

because he suddenly blew up like a balloon. If he had been alone who knows

what may have happened. He now carries an epi pen wherever he goes. Glad

your show went well. Guess hand made sells better in your neck of the

woods.

Yes, this time of year is iffy. I'm glad this was my last outdoor show for

the year. Only a few more and then I'm done for the year.

Katy, I purchased some of those scratch off cards on another soap list.

Forgot all about them. Maybe I'll try them at some of the next shows.

Thanks for the reminder.

The show was the Harvest Festival in ton, NY. I've done this show for

years. Yes, I think people helped themselves. The display was too heavy to

have blown away. If it had been the wind the display would have been up

against the table on the other side of my display. I do a U shaped display

and everything on the windy side was blown over and pushed into the far

side. Just makes me angry! I did report it to the Chamber (they sponsor

the show) but just for there information.

Yes, the town police were supposedly patrolling up and down the street.

However, the doughnut shops were closed.

Jeanine,

I always thought that being allergic to bees meant you would become

really ill. Would the epi pen work for the instant swelling? I can't

even close my hand tonight it's so swollen and it just keeps getting

bigger. Not going down at all! I was swatting yellow jackets all day

once the sun came out but didn't get stung until I went to put a bin

under the table. There was one clinging to the table cloth and he got me

good. It was just me and 2 customers in the booth at the time and it was

pretty hard to keep smiling, let me tell ya! :-)

Katy,

Son 's reaction began with swelling at the site he was bitten (back of

his neck). He just thought it would go down by itself. (DIL) said

he started to blow up all over and developed red spots all over his body

(that was a new one to me). She is an EMT and rushed him to an emergency

care site that was closer than the hospital. He also developed chills and

was shaking so hard he really scared The doctor said it was a good

thing they didn't wait. The original bite was still swollen until got

the stinger out. He did get IV meds and they kept him at the center for

many hours.

When he was young, he and a friend were playing at the sandy banks along

Lake Ontario. Both and disturbed a yellow jacket nest and came

running back to the cottage with multiple stings apiece. As a friends

doctor explained it (friend is also allergic) bee venom builds up in your

system. Which is why people say they have been stung many times and had no

problems and then all of a sudden they get hit with a full blown

anaphylactic reaction.

Well in addition, the frame is bent on two sides. My son is going to see if

he can get the sailmaster to repair my canopy. As in sailmaster at a sail

supply store.
