Guest guest
Thanks Katy, I purchased one of these but haven't used it yet. Jeanine Jeanine's Hummingbird Soap Works _____ From: [mailto: ] On Behalf Of Katy Sent: Tuesday, September 26, 2006 7:01 PM Subject: Lib Balm Filling Tray I've been meaning to tell you all. I bought one of the lip balm filling trays a couple of weeks ago (just like the one that won in the raffle) and it is incredible! If you make more than 50 of one kind at a time, I would highly recommend this tool. It cut the manufacturing time in more than just half for me. Now, most of my time is spent labeling and shrinkwrapping each one. When I first put the tubes in, it seemed like they were hard to push in and I thought there was no way I was getting them back out of there. I was wrong. Once they are filled, the balm lubricates them so they are easy as pie to take back out. The tops are nice and even. Beautiful! Just thought I'd share! Guest guest
Yeah, I just bought another one so that I can keep going while the last batch is cooling. They're kinda pricey but I think they are well worth it if you make a lot of lip balm. Guest guest
I didnt pour a second time. There wasnt any sink holes to speak of. I may have been pouring at a cooler temp. Guest guest
Hi all, I have a lip balm filling tray also. I can make up to three different balms flavors in one tray. I have tried the following: I have a set of lip balm tubes that I use as fill ins. I put saran wrap over the tops and top them in, so there is no filling in if there is a little over slip. Also, I've tried no stick scotch tape, it works well, but the heat makes it sticky, so you have to spend extra time getting the goop off the tray with a rag and soap. Don't use brillo. I learned that the hard way, ruined my first tray. Just apply tape over a whole row on the diagonal. I've also tried filling in the holes with tin foil, but I've had most success with the saran wrap, double layer it then push in tray. I have seen a huge tray that comes with a hole divider, but it's over 200 bucks, ouch, but you can do, I believe, 200 balms at a time or 100. I can't remember now. Hope this helps. Guest guest
Hi, Beth... Go to staples, get the label size 2 x 4. Go to your label selection in Word or WP and choose the number that's on the label package. I believe it's 8663, for the clear labels. Make a two cell table in the first 2 x 4 space. Type in your info. When you are satisified with the wording, first print a blank sheet of regular paper, don't waste a label page. Check for typos. Then print the label sheet. Cut along the cells, and you'll have 1 x 2 labels that will fit perfectly all around your tubes. It takes a little tweaking here and there, but once you have your template, you can print as many as you want. Let me know if you need further help. It took me a whole weekend, tweaking, tweaking, tweaking... but I got it. And they look great!!! Marisol in Brooklyn ByrneBunch@... wrote: In a message dated 9/26/2006 10:40:08 P.M. Guest guest
Hi all, you can pick up those putty knife for under a dollar at any hardware, just in case someone doesn't have one. The metals ones cost more, but they also scrap your tray, so I stopped using it. Now, I'm back to the plastic one. It's better. Marisol in Brooklyn Katy <katyr64@...> wrote: Yes, me too. Guest guest
Hi, all Yes, I also notice that if you carry the lip balm in a pocket or have it loose in your purse, the lettering starts to peel off after about a month or so. After I finish off my package of labels, I'm going to get the ones which once printed with a jet ink printer the ink becomes permanent because there is something on the paper that makes the ink permanent, even though it's pricey. At least twice as much as the staples labels, which I got for 26 and change, so around 50 bucks is a lot for labels. I'll really have to think about it. It will increase the price of packaging and I really don't know yet if this is really a serious problem, or if it will eventually turn into a serious problem. We'll see. Has anyone had a customer complain about the label wearing off, etc.? Shaye <shaye@...> wrote: Does your printing wear off eventually? I carry lip balm in my jeans pocket all the time.
