PS CCBs can also aggreavate this but most likely due to wt gain and pressure

on stomach when you lay down.

May your pressure be low!

Dr Grim,

This is my third year on Spiro and a CCB as long term maintenance

meds. I was the one who reported developing symptoms of uncontrollable

flatulence a few months back.

Recently, I noticed another disturbing symptom. I have frequent

heartburn, or what seems like heartburn especially occuring upon

waking up in the morning. Does long term Spiro or CCB has a factor in

this? Somehow my condition seems similar to a description of hiatal

hernia. I also noticed I am gaining weight in spite of the reduced

food intake.

I experimented and skipped Spiro and ccb for two days and the

conditions seemingly improved. But I can not risk without Spiro for

long or bp would go up again.

I am taking 50 mg Spiro at 6 am, and another 50mg and a 2mg

Lacidipine at 6 pm.

Work with you team and tell them exactly what the problem is and what you

have learned by stopping them. Suggests that one or both are causing the

problem. Mostly at night?

Dr. Grim,

Honestly, the internet and this group here is my only team now. I have

been to med professionals before when I can afford it and they missed

my PA. Since becoming unemployed in 2000, I went on the internet

surfing for my med issue as well a hunting for another job. I found

Conn's and Spiro but not yet a job.

If you have heartburn, have you asked your doctor about taking a

medicine like Pepsid? Also have you asked him to diagnose if you

have an ulcer or hernia causing the heartburn?

One idea is that you may have lactose intolerance if you drink milk.

That causes flatulence. If you could try lactaid pills with any type

of dairy that might help. Do you eat dairy or milk products?

I rarely have milk or milk products lately. As of last night,

heartburn is considerably reduced in intensity as dosage for Spiro and

Lacipil (ccb) is reduced to 50mg and 2 mg per day respectively.

Someone recommended Zantac for heartburn but I have not tried it yet.
