Guest guest
Hi All, I'd thought I'd add to this topic after talking with my insurance agent. Do you know New York soapmakers are excluded from discontinued liability insurance until September 1, 2006 plus this only applies to those businesses that have gross sales of over $5,000/yr.? Otherwise, you dont have to worry about it. Didn't know if this had been discussed some time in the past and I'd missed it. Gelnett www.angelicglow.com Just wanted to make sure that NY soapmakers don't have to worry about liability excluded if over 5000/yr gross sales until Rules are implemented August 1, 2006 for new business or renewals September 1, 2006. Gelnett Analyst, Electric Supply New York State Electric & Gas Corp (agent for Rochester Gas and Electric Corp.) 18 Link Drive Binghamton, NY 13902-5225 Ph: (607)762-7688 Fax: (607)762-8885 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- From: Angelicglow () [mailto:angelicglow@...] Sent: Monday, June 12, 2006 6:53 PM Gelnett, Subject: Re: Insurance News Ken Bomba - Bomba Insurance Insurance News Hi guys, I read this on one of my other forums and with Shaye's permission I want to share it with our group. I know a number of us are concerned about this issue. The post: " A deal is being put together for soapers and B & B folks to get general AND product liability insurance for $400 per year per person. It'll cover soap, lotions, perfume, candles, and possibly other products too. An agent named Dave Fox at Calnorth insurance (davidfox@...) is putting a group deal together for the Handmade Soapers Guild to offer through the Guild. You don't have to join the Guild to get the insurance, but it may cost slightly more if you are a non-member (membership is $80/year). I've called numerous agents and been told I can't get product liability at all, or that it'll cost several thousand a year. $400 is an outstanding price. What Dave needs to get this going is for enough people to tell the Guild that you'd want to do this and want them to offer it. The goal is to have it in place in 30 days. Edited to add: Here's one clarification just in from Dave: It will take Dave's company 30 days to put this together once the Guild gives the go ahead. So we're just waiting to give the Guild enough emails to reassure them there's enough interest. Then once they tell Dave to start it'll be 30 days. I'm hoping if we all email the Guild it'll get going soon! Thanks! Here is the Guild's email: Info@... and President@... and here is their website: http://www.soapguild.org/ Please let the Guild know you'd like the insurance plan! Send them email! They need to hear from members and non-members, just anyone who is interested in the insurance plan so they know how many people are interested. It is so hard to find this insurance, this is much less expensive this way. Please send the Guild email if you'd like to see this happen! Thanks everyone! " ~~~~~ There's a page on the guild's site specifically on insurance. It hasn't been updated with the above info. http://www.soapguild.org/public/insurance.php I am not affiliated with the guild or the insurance.. just wanted to share the info if anyone needs it. www.BlueMountainBotanicals.com

Diane Diane, I had Ken Bomba dictate it to me word for word since he knew I was going to post it here. He said he was going to get on some chats and post too. Who knows. Maybe it had something to do with being a new account and you are only covered until end of July since it is implemented August 1 in NYS. Guest guest
Maybe. I knew about the change, so I didn't think to question it. Guest guest
Wow...I was just coming to post that I was going to bring some info to the gathering on Insurance. I am an Insurance Agent. No, I will not make a dime off of any policy as my company will not write PLI for Candle/Soap Makers. A fellow agent, wrote my $1mil PL policy and it is the cheapest by far I have ever been able to find. I pay $182 a yr. So, I will bring his info and please feel free to call. > > > > > > Hi All, > > I'd thought I'd add to this topic after talking with my insurance > > agent. Guest guest
Kim-who is PLI? We have RLI and have not heard of them . I did here the guild was offring insurance at $400/year. There are so many different agencies and agents that the gossip circle has really spun crazy-any info will be really appreciated! Guest guest
This is interesting, as I bought my insurance direct from RLI, and I do have the $5000 limit. I wonder if Ken was able to broker a special deal? Diane www.GreenFireHerbs.com " Never say 'can't' when there's a 'How About This' still to be tried! Guest guest
PLI is no one...it stands for Product Liability Ins. I will bring a flyer and business card to the gathering. My Insurance is written thru a small NY Mutual Company the specializes in Crafters Insurance. I do HUGE Fundraisers every yr so feel more comfortable having it. Since the company I write Insurance for (Allstate) will not write this sort of risk I turned to a fellow agent who writes only Business Ins. Like I said, $182 a yr isnt too shabby! >From: " Debbie Sturdevant " <DebbieD78@...> >Reply- > >Subject: Re: Insurance News - More >Date: Tue, 27 Jun 2006 18:13:39 -0000 > >Kim-who is PLI?
