10's

I am convinced after doing a workout session with Lynn Lingerfelter

from BFL yesterday that I definately have not been doing 10's. The

only time I was doing them was with a trainer. After the 6th rep -

you almost have to have someone there to spot you. He also mixes

the speed of the reps....some really slow with holding and then a

few fast ones to trick the muscle. Does anyone else use a trainer

or have a partner? I was tempted to hire the trainer again - but

it's not cheap. It would cost me $1100 for 10 weeks.

NOw that would have been a good idea for my Christmas list!! I

doubt if I would have gotten it though - lol.

I would LOVE to have a female training partner to lift with

regularly. I'm usually the only female in the weights area, though,

sad to say.

Sounds like you had a fun weekend!

Pat,

Well, my understanding is that hitting a 10 should hurt mentally :) ie. you

have to really push yourself hard and your muscles should be " sore tired " . You

should never push to " real pain " . Anytime there is " real pain " , it is not a

good sign. I hope I am making sense!

I am sorry that you've hurt yourself and your tennis match is in question - I

hope you will recover enough by Tuesday!

Laurie (day 82)

help!!

I guess the hard part for me is that I am not a couch potato in any

sense of the word...For the last ten years I have played tennis

(on two leagues and a USTA team) very competitively. It's just that

in trying to REALLY go for it and reach those tens somehow I overdid

it...how does one know when they are over dong it? I mean, I really

was able to barely do the last rep Although it was painful (didn't I

hear somewhere that when you are hitting your tens it really is hard

and/or painful???) So I REALLY went for it and now I have a messed up

Quad! And what really misses me off is I have one more match for

this season and am vying for first place! I am to play the match on

Tuesday....what am I going to do??? I have worked for this position

all year and now because of this stupid muscle I am practically at

the point of defaulting my match! (you guys gotta understand...my

position on the court is VERY important to me, I work hard to be here

and now I am so upset!) I just cannot believe I have done this! Not

only am I making my BFL more difficult but my tennis is gonna be

hurting also. Is there ANYTHING I can do between now and Tue to help

this situation????? Earlier today I was almost in tears on the

court...but I didn't give up and thankfully my serve was on and my

net play was there and I have one hell of a runner for a partner...

(she really played her part and half mine too).

Augh!!!!!!!!!

> I have a problem with the theory of hitting " 10's " . As a couch

potatoe myself going into this for the first time. I tried hitting

the 10's and wound up in the chiropractics office 3 times a week for

3 months. So I almost never hit 10's in cardio due to being

overweight it is just too much on my joints. I have lost 25 pounds

(10 weeks on BFL) doing this and its worked out great for me. I am

in total agreement with the intensity workout , I think you just have

to tweak it to your own body.
