Gail-

How funny! That is one of those times that you just smile and nod and say "uh-huh, yes, mm-hm."

I get very strange reactions to my son's helmet. And now when I come across people who have newborns, I try to educate them about plagio and warn them of the signs and how to prevent it. The other day an attorney I was working for, he has a 6 week old son. I told him about plagio and how my 15 month old is in a helmet because of a flat spot due to spending too much time on his back. I was thinking I was doing him a favor by telling him about this condition. I said, "Be careful because my son has to wear a helmet now." He just had this goofy grin on his face and said, "Oh, it'll pop out." I wanted to smack him. I wanted to say, "You sound like every doctor I ever talked to before I met one with intelligence. I am trying to inform you about something that is starting to become an epidemic with these poor babies. And no, it isn't just going to "pop" out." I'm so sick of hearing that term, "pop."

Anyway, just know that you are going to hear it all. Most people think it's a crash helmet to protect him when he falls like a normal toddler falls. Sheesh! Some people think it's a bike helmet. My mother-in-law finally said something that made some sense. She told me to tell people that he's a skateboarding champion! Can't wait till I get to use that one!

Skateboarding champ is a good one. Mind if I use it once or twice?

I had another lady comment on the " bumpers " my twins were wearing.

The bands actually do work like bumpers when they are wrestling with

each other, so I guess I should give her some credit. Always good

for a chuckle...

Christi,

People can be so ignorant!! just smacked his face into a toy and

had a very ugly bruise under his eye- I felt like people really thought I

abused him! He was acting up at the grocery store and I kind of scolded him

verbally and people were looking at me like, I bet that kid's gonna get

another black eye now (and the irony is my dh thinks I'm a pushover!)! Well,

at least they are on alert for abused kids :)

I dont know how many times people have asked if it was a crash

helmet! I get soooo tired of that one!! Or there other question is

did you drop her on her head and thats why she has to wear that/ Im

like duhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh nooooooooooooo in my head and I politely

explain to the morons exactly whats going on and then they just look

at me like they dont believe the real story. And I just feel like

smacking them!! So --- yes you will hear it all! As you can see

it gets kind of annoying after while but what can you do. Just

Smile!
