Guest guest
Pete: Was the macro issue ever finally resolved that kept popping up? There were a number of errors that popped up when you clicked on the clear or assess buttons. Can you give me the latest? Mark
Guest guest
Pete: I stumbled upon a new twist on this while fooling around today. I got the familiar error message that another file called TLC.xls was open. I went to the " window " menu in XL and clicked on " unhide. " Sure enough, up popped a new, virgin spreadsheet called TLC.xls. I closed it and clicked on the " perform assessment " button, and it worked. It appears that procedure is needed each new time the TLC assess spreadsheet is opened. Mark TLC assess Pete: Was the macro issue ever finally resolved that kept popping up? Guest guest
What opens is a hidden spreadsheet with that as a name. I have beeen pretty careful not to have more than one copy running, so I'm not sure what the heck is happening. It is almost as if the macro creates this hidden file and then when you execute the macro it tries to creat it again. Guest guest
The hidden spreadsheet IS the macro sheet. If you recall, when you installed the file, you downloaded a file called TLC.xls (you can find it in the Files section of BrainTrainer). That's the file you had to put in the XLStart folder. Neither the program nor the macro create the file; they simply go to it to access the macros. I presume, when you run the macro, it re-opens the sheet if you have closed it for some reason. I'd suggest you do a search on your hard drive for TLC.xls and see if you find any copies other than one in the folder called XLStart. Guest guest
Pete: Of course you are right. There are two folders with XLStart folder inside. One is the office folder and the other is call office10. How TLC.xls got into that folder is unknown unless office xp wants to put a copy there. Guest guest
Mark, That's why Office XP is a problem. It adds the Office10 folder, which is an individualized macro file. What I would do is try taking the TLC.xls file out of the XLStart folder in Office and see if the program works. Then try taking it out of Office10 (put it back in Office) and see if it works. Guest guest
Hi Mark and I had the same problem with my XP program and I checked carefully to identify any copies of TCL.xls with only one showing up in the proper folder. It always came up with the same response when using the buttons on the assessment form. " file already open " However when someone on the list said they came in the back door and it worked I tried it that way (maybe it was Rosemary I'm not sure) and it worked!! Just open the file as usual and click on the Tools menu on the top in excel and then Macros then double click TLC.xls.assessment.assessment macro and it works like a charm!! Thank you whoever it was who discovered this as it was driving me crazy. I must have cleared out all copies and reinstalled it 10 times and it never worked from the buttons. Hope this helps Tegan
