I believe that per federal law, you are entitled to copies of your tests.

I know that, but the women in the doc's office seemed a bit agitated

when asked for copies. Like as if it's A LOT of work for them.

Hi Kathy:All you need to do is ask for a copy of your lab work. Aldosterone and Renin results are what you want to see on the lab work if your doctor has ordered the test.

In the meantime any time you go for lab work you can request that a copy of the results be also mailed or faxed to you. (But make sure you write it down on the lab slip before you go to the lab). You will receive a copy at the same time that a copy is sent to your doctor.

This is true with the Quest lab in California and I assume other laboratories have the same routine.

Yes I am sure of it because a few days after having my gallbladder

removed (last April), I ended up with a DVT in my left calf, so I had

made a trip to the hospital. My primary doc seen me in the ER and

discussed with me about lab results. He specifically said my tumor

wasn't a Pheo and then he said he needed to talk with my Endo doc

about the results because my Aldo was high. That's all was said.

In April when my Endo sent me for lab work, I DO remember seeing on

the paper about Aldosterone and renin, so I am positive these tests

were done.

He has done so many tests since April of this year. I do remember he

did the Aldo and renin tests and I actually never thought of asking

for copies because I never had a clue what Aldo and renin tests were,

not until now. I never knew these tests were important until I

started doing my own research.

From now on I will ask for them.

If you have labs at the hosp you need to go get them or have them faxed to you

by signing a release form that you get from them. This will provide some good

information. I dont know why so many dr.s are in denile when it comes to pheos.

I might have one happening in my left adrenal. I have high dopamine,

norepinephrine, aldosterone, testosterone, DHEA. I found all this out after

being in this group for a little while and reading Basic Clinical Endocrinology

tex book. The

only doctor that got me going

in the right direction to find all these hormones out of wack was Dr.Grim. He is

#10 Endo. I seen so many. I shutter to think how grim my life could still be

with out him. I am so much better now that I am on sprio,and a ACE inhibitor i

started has made a big difference like the Sprio

did.The information Dr. Grim

has tucked away in files link is well worth reading with a fine tooth comb.

Thank you ita! I AM so glad I found this group! I just wish I

would have found it sooner.

I guess I wasn't really 'with it' when getting my tests done - I

basically figured my doctors would take care of everything. This has

opened my eyes and from now on I WILL get the results from them.

I think my problem is that I have the wrong doctors in charge. This

one says one thing, then the other says another - well, actually,

neither one of them discuses this with me. My primary doctor seems

more supportive than my Endo doctor.

My last visit to my Endo went like this - he sat down typed on the

computer - said test results look all good - tumor stayed the same

size - keep you on Spiro - we will do another CT scan in Feb.

I said to him " This tumor isn't cancerous? "

He said " Not sure yet "

This is all that was said!

So I go home not sure why I have this tumor, after months thinking it

is Conn's.

Anyway, I'll get the results of the Aldo and renin and send it to the

group. I think Dr. Grim will help explain the results to me better

than these doctors I have.
