Hello Dr. Grim, my name is Desire, and I have a condition which my

doctor calls hyperaldosteronism hypertension. I have extemely high

blood pressure, which is controlled by Lisinopril. I take one 10ng a

day.

In general ACEs do not work alone in primary aldosteronism. Please send your renin and aldo tests and the normals in that lab.

Read my article on the evolution of PA and take to your Dr.

Well I have something where my potassium is dangerously low,

and this is what causes the high blood pressure.

Low K does not cause high blood pressure. It is a indicator that there may be a mineralocorticoid problem like aldo.

I have been to a

specialist whom did nothing for me. I am confused and I don't know

what to do.

Send us his test results.

I informed my medical doctor that I do not want to take

medication to control my blood pressure for the rest of my life, if

there is something else causing the high blood pressure that can be

fixed. So lets get to the cause of the problem. I also informed my

mom of this condition and she informed me that she also has low

Potassium, and high blood pressure, and her doctor is controlling

her blood pressure with medication also, I informed her please tell

your doctor you have Hyperaldosteronism hypertension, so he can look

into it, and find the cause of it.

PA does run in familes. Get as much info as you can on your Mom's tests and take her Dr. my article.

Why do they think she is losing K?

My doctor is very concerned and

she has informed me if she has to send me to 12 specialist she will

do that to get to the root of the problem. This was a very

reputable specialist, but he did not have any answers, because all

my blood work was fine, except my postassium was low. Your advise

is greatly appreciated, and thank you for your consideration.

Where are you? I may know someone in the area who can help.

May your pressure be low!

it is in our files. I dont know if Dr. Dallas Hall still sees pts at Emory, if so I would recommend him. I am asking a colleague down there to recommend someone as well.

Dammit, get the exact K numbers- "extremely low" does not help and may be deadly. What else are you taking? Did you take my article to him? What did he say was causing the low K?

Sounds like time for an aldosterone-renin test - blood and 24-hour

urine. The sooner the better, I'd imagine. Unless you already have

these - give Dr Grim your numbers. Have you done the aldactone

(spironolactone) 1-2 week test? It may lower your BP markedly, and

even bring K levels back.
