why am I sweating so much

Hi Dr. Grim and all:I just had a lab done after taking Spiro for almost 11 months. I am on 100mg of spiro and that is all I take in addition to dashing. My bp is very controlled as it has not been over 120/80(well occasionally 120/90) but most of the times 100/60. I am sweating however so much. Any kind of stressful thought and I'll be sweating suddenly like as if someone turns on the hose and directs it to me. Whats going on? My doctor suggested it could be due to thyroid but my lab results dont indicate I have any thyroid problems. I am not diabetic either.

Also I notice that my renin has gone up from <.2 at diagnisis to being over 6 presently after taking spiro for some time now. At what point do I need to start worrying about having too high of renin? Will it affect my kidneys? Will it continue to increase?

I weigh 112 lbs and I notice that a lot of times I have to add salt to my food to feel better. Perhaps my bp drops too low!! My sodium has always been either too low or borderline. K appears to be ok now. Am I overmedicating myself? How do I get rid of the sweating? Any suggestions? Could the sweating be a side effect of the spiro?

Thanks,

Farah

You were coming down with PA for years before this in all likelyhood.

May your pressure be low!

After you lower your spiro if that does not help your sweating Here what I do. I

take 25mcg atenolol for sweating and rapid heart beat staring in 04. I came down

with PA in Mexico on vacation and returned home with hbp and rapid a heart beat.

Atenolol does wonders especially in the early stages of PA. I have found it to

be true the combination of drugs from dr. Grims files used to combat this is

best. It really does takes more than one type to help relieve symptoms. I am on

100mg sprio, 25mg atenolol,an 5mg benezpril.My blood pressure is 100/70

sitting but getting up is when things can change for me. I am better than I have

been in a long time since I found this group.

Thanks ita for the info.

I took atenolol years ago and my bp went sky high. Not to mention back pains and I think I was coughing too. May be the combination will work.

Oh when my sweating was no longer controled with the atenolol which I took for 2

years. The new drug I am on is Benezpril and it stopped the sweating and

lessoned stomach pains. I seem to have twice as much noreprinephrine when I was

checked in september by the FNP. ita

Hello Dr. Grim,

Attached is info on my lab just to refresh your mind. I was on 100mg

Spiro and dash. With your recommendation, I reduced to 75mg and two

weeks ago went to 50mgs.

I feel great. My sweating and chills are totally gone. My bp is

still around 120/80. So now I know for sure that Spiro was somewhat

the calprit in causing the chills and sweats.

However, in the past two weeks I have a sudden weight gain. I have

gained 7 lbs just in two weeks and it all is in my belly area and my

ribs. My diet has not changed and I exercise regularly 4days.

So is this water retention I am gaining? I remember the last time I

stopped spiro for 8 weeks to prepare for an AVS the same thing

happened. What do I do? Get back on 100mg Spiro and put up with the

sweats/chills or put up with the weight gain?

Thanks,

Farah

DR G: MAY NEED SOMEWHERE BETWEEN 75 AND 50. TALK WITH YOUR DR. A 24

HR URINE FOR NA WILL TELL HOW LOW YOUR NA IN THE DIET REALL IS. NEED

NORMAL VALUES FROM THE LAB FOR RENIN AND ALDO.

My diet has not changed and I exercise regularly 4days.

So is this water retention I am gaining? I remember the last time I

stopped spiro for 8 weeks to prepare for an AVS the same thing

happened. What do I do? Get back on 100mg Spiro and put up with the
