What is the ACTH test for?

What are ACTH labs for? One of my former doctors used to complain about testing me for my ACTH and HGH. He was my PCP and a Endo/Internal Med doctor I believe. He is one of the doctors that searched for PA -- I guess. No one tells the patient! And back then it would not have meant anything. I do have the page that mentions he was going to check for Aldo and stuff. I see in the old record the wrote that I had no adrenal tumor. And that was it.
