I found that I retain certain medications. I did not think it would happen with Spironolactone but it did. It seemed to build up in my body. I had to accept that was happening when I got severe thrush and other skin (collagen) changes. I got thinner skin, slowed wound healing, scratches, bruising, breast enlargement, change in the shape of my face, etc. My doctor wrote that she gave me the medicine for my hirsutism. When I saw her weeks late for a creatinine check, she was shocked and amazed at my appearance. Well, I am now off Spiro, my muscles are coming back and my face is changing. IMHO. My genetic specialist will be checking me for and GRA.and/or congenital adrenal hyperplasia (CAH). Spiro. weakened/thinned my skin and this year I have had many minor GI ruptures. Two months ago I had a wrist vein rupture. My wrist BP cuff got too tight. Taking BP spikes my BP. I had a few back of knee rupture since 2003. I have to be careful to keep my legs straight in case of a BP spike. Two days ago I forgot to do that, and a vein popped in the back of both legs. This evening I had it happen in my left arm. Because of all this I emailed my genetics specialist with the rupture information. Things are out of hand. I was told individuals with EDS should not take steroids. Nice to know that now. Caro.
