Guest guest
No, I did not have the ACTH injection because they were testing me for a pheochromocytoma and took the aldo while they were doing the procedure. It would be like having a blood test for aldo and renin. Same range (tested by the Mayo lab who). Debi
Guest guest
My catecholamines are elevated also (metanephrine and normetaneprhine). I guess they won't know everything until it is removed and pathology done. I also have carcinoid syndrome. Debi
Guest guest
Also, I forgot to add....my renin was <6. That's one high ratio! Guest guest
Debi, Were these results before or after ACTH injection? I hope Dr. Grim or someone else who has had AVS will comment on this. Maybe it's the ratio and not the amount of aldosterone that matters, I don't know. But I just dug out my AVS report. I'll post just part of the results, not the cortisol & ratios. My results were much, much higher but I have bilateral adenomas and hyperfunction so surgery is not an option for me. And maybe that makes a difference in the results. Before ACTH injection: (normal 1-16 ng/DL) R adrenal 579.1 L adrenal 886.6 IVC 45.5 After ACTH injection: R adrenal 2407.5 L adrenal 2539.3 IVC 68.0 a > > > > > Finally, I got the right adrenal aldosterone > results from the AVS. > All > > they did was sample the left, right and IVC. Guest guest
Oh, I didn't know they did AVS to diagnosis a pheo. How did those results turn out? a --- moonium@... wrote: > No, I did not have the ACTH injection because they > were testing me for a > pheochromocytoma and took the aldo while they were > doing the procedure. Have you been on sprio or Inspra yet?

If you have not been on spiro or Inspra yet this would be a reasonable test to predice how your BP and K will do.

The reason to do the ACTH is to look at the Cortisols to see if you were in a vein that drains the adrenal.
