Guest guest
I had surgery for the cushings. It was causing my life to be a disaster. I guess the Conn's (if I truly had it too) was put in the background. My blood pressure dropped last night after not being on florinef for 1 1/2 days so now am back on it at a lowered dose. Life without adrenals is a roller coaster. Guest guest
Tonia, When I was first diagnosed with hyperaldo, my neph ordered an MRI but nothing showed up. I kept looking for an endo that knew anything about it and finally found one two years later. After repeating the same tests that had been done before, she ordered another MRI and this time a 9 mm " area of nodularity " showed up. She sent me to UVA and after more tests, the endo there, told me that the aldo was suppressed by saline. He also ordered an octreotide scan which showed nothing. He says that I have secondary aldo since it is suppressed by saline and the nodule on my left adrenal is not producing any hormones and is harmless. I would say that you should ask for a saline suppression test. You have to be off Aldactone for 5 weeks to do the test. There are some people in this group who had an adrenal tumor removed and still have hyperaldo. I have read that secondary aldo is caused by heart failure, kidney failure or cirosses of the liver and I haven't been diagnosed with any of those. I finally turned to acupuncture for help with some strange symptoms and he says that I have liver and kidney deficiency and that my body can't processess water properly. Ask for this guy's references on how he knows you can't process water properly. The problem is that the excess aldo you are making is messing with your sodiumm and K and any water problem is related to the salt problem from the aldo. You do not have renal or liver or heart failure causing your aldo to be high. If you had that then your renin would be high also. May your pressure be low! C.E. Guest guest
Hi Well just got some labs and I am also over range in cortisol at 10am by 1 point, along with aldosterone, testosterone, & DHEA. I am dropping the present Endo and going back to the Professor at UCD in Sacramento who told me my thyroid labs were lab errors which they were not. I am running out of endos in Sacramento and have not found one that has been helpfull out of 7. I hope my luck will change soon. I am so tired of being swollen and sickly. I presume the only way out of this mess is to have the left adrenal adenoma removed just like you have done. Hope your feeling much better with your adrenal gone. Did you have both or 1 taken out? ita

Guest guest
Hi Farah Thank you for the name. I dont know if I would ever have AVS ever done again since the last one was a dreadfull experience. I have 2 kidneys on the right side it would take a real pro to find the right vein and the 2nd kidney does not show up in IVP or xrays or ultra sound. It was discovered with a scope looking around between kidney and bladder. I ofter wonder what sits on top of that 2nd kidney like another adrenal gland I guess I need to know if i have a spare. ita 12:50:08 AM, farahbar@... writes: Hi ita You can see Dr. Quan Duh, chief of Endocrinology surgery at UCSF.
