Guest guest
Ladies, This is such fantastic post, I can't help but comment. Truly- when was the last time there was something truly NEW in the world of nutrition and exercise? I used to think that calorie counting was " born " to the general public in the 70's. But did you know that as far back as 1940 something bodybuilding guru Vince Gironda was stressing that to build the perfect physique it was 80% nutrition and 20% training? No doubt someone said it before him to! How about Joyce Verdall? The biggest mistake any of us can make is to assume that at some point we know it all. It's only through keeping and open mind that we can continue to grow and achieve our personal best. I did BFL a terrible injustice when I slammed it so publicly after my transformation. It was NOT Body-for-Life that was wrong, it was me. Oh, I gave it the cursory nod for getting me started, but at the end of the day, it all comes back to the basics, the very basics that BFL teaches. You see, I was not seeing the whole picture then. I thought that because most champions " tweaked " the basic BFL program, that meant it (BFL) was inherently incorrect. It took months and hundreds of e- mails from women who had successful transformations on other programs, as well as seeing people " fail " at the program I was pushing, for me to wrap my head around the fact that in order to be successful EVERY SINGLE ONE OF US MUST FIND OUR KEY or " cross the abyss " , or " hear your click " , or " make the decision " -whatever phrase turns YOU on! Every program out there has it's success stories, otherwise no one will buy it, right? Likewise, every program has it's failure's or stalls. The day someone invents a program that the entire world can embrace and implement that sheds the pounds with minimal work and is free or at least under $20...Heck, I'll be the first in line to say forget everything else. I really believe that this weight loss journey is so much more about what's in our heads, than what's on our plates. Theres always skeptics. I am sure you have heard people gripe that Bill started the BFL challenge to sell supplements. SO WHAT? In doing so he changed thousands of lives for the better. Behind every wonderful cause that people flock to support is a marketing genius. It doesn't mean the cause is tainted. My Last Fat Summer is a free site. I am currently (actually my husband Hugh is) working on filling the pages with free info gleaned from (and credited to)OTHERS. I'd like to present or link to every possible answer for transformation, and have it all wrapped up into one free package. If you've spend any time on the site, you know that. I am humbled and honored to be included in the listing of the current popular programs in this thread. But I am not so silly as to think that means ANYTHING yet. What will prove or deny the strength of the BBB is where the graduates are 6 months from now, a year from now..5 years from now. BBB is not a program, per se. It's about gaining the internal strength to make it happen for yourself. Who am I? Nobody. No better than any other woman, I have just found a path I like to share. I am not going to apologize for making plans to profit from MLFS someday. In fact, most of you know the price for the next challenge jumped considerably. I DO plan on making a living with this, the book, the speaking...all of it. I'll offer all the free tools I can, and donate all the time I can, but bottom line...I'll be a better coach, mom, wife and friend when I a not worried about how to put food on the table. If making a living equals a lack of integrity in the mind of anyone, then they should not pay to join the challenge. It certainly doesn't mean that they won't reach or exceed their goals. If the fact that I can't donate my entire life to this cause, which I love, makes me greedy...then MLFS is not the home for such women. There are great free challenges and support boards everywhere. Perspective is everything. I don't presume to suggest My Last Fat Summer is any better than what anyone else has to offer. It is somewhat unique, as is Camp Pam Brown, and LL and all else that is out there. I have learned so much coaching the BBB, and I know now, that if a new client is not keen on the bulletin board aspect of the challenge, she likely should consider a different program, because the support boards are where the windfall of info and support will be. Often, MLFS does not stand alone, it's a compliment to whatever else the challengers have implemented in their life. Every program is going to appeal to a different type of person. I regularly remind the women who write to thank me, that I had very little to do with their actual changes. They are the one dragging themselves to gym, or not taking seconds, or going to bed early when everyone else is still up for a party. I guess in all this rambling, what I am trying to say is that you should listen to NO ONE until you hear, in your own head, what you need to do. You are the one you can depend on the most. YOu absolutely have to be able to look yourself in the eye, and believe in how incredible you are TODAY before any transformation will ever be truly complete.
