Well I took the 1mg dex last nite for my test this morning. In 2 hours after

taking dex my rings were not tight I could slip them on and off. I started to

unswell and felt really good today the best in a long time.

In the recent weeks I lowered my Na from 140 to 136 as of friday range 134-143

which did a little good but not much and still felt like crap. I really wonder

what is going on with me and if I have GRA. I hope to be sending off my plasma

to Mass by the end of the week. ita

I thought that during my ds test too, but the longterm effects of

steroids might deter me. I don't know.

In general we do not use long term dex suppresion to treat GRA due to side effects of the amt of glucocorticoids. In the first family we reported with normal K GRA the boys seemed to stop growing an we swithced to Dyazide.

Hey Uncle Dave

What did you DS test say? I already was on HC and felt normal on a low dose when suspected I had s which I dont. But the HC raised my K,lowered bp and got rid of the torture from Aldo. I did lots of labs from last week should have them soon. Checking for other hormones that could be going out of whack. As if aldo, testosterone, and DHEA isnt enough.

Then What glucoricoid is used to treat GRA. ita

Because of the long term effects of glucocortcoid most are controlled by a combo of low sodium diet and K sparing diuretics or now Inspra or spiro.

Gee Wiz This is not good news for me. As I cant live my life like this low

sodium diet and sprio do not make me feel well. If i get it removed I am gonna

be on HC and to live with it I will need to be on steroids so I can take enough

thyroxine to feel good. How depressing

I think it is particularly interesting that ita cannot take enough thyroxine to feel good.

I cannot take any T3 even though my T3 is very low. As long as I avoid it, I do pretty well with only HCTZ.

Val

(No diagnosis, but high aldo/renin.)

No Dr.GRim I have never tried Inpra is there a possibility that it could work

better on

me than spiro? Inspra does not have a testosterone blocker in it and I really do

need the testosterone blocked as well or I get male pattern baldness on my

temples.

Are there other drugs that will block testosterone?.

Valarie

I tried some Armour in 1/4 grain for 3 days it made me swell like crazy. I am

stuck on barely 25mcg of synthroid. I read in a tex book BAsic clinical

Endocrinology and it says Estrogen increases Aldo. I havent been able to take

estrogen for a year now.

Estrogen increases renin substrate from the liver and increases renin and aldo is some.

Inspra seems to have fewer side effects but has not been out as long and costs more. It looks better than Spiro for a few years at least.
