Guest guest
Have you been tested for Celiac? Val -----Original Message-----From: hyperaldosteronism [mailto:hyperaldosteronism ]On Behalf Of meling333 Another long standing problem seems to be getting worse. Its diarrhea and cholestyramine isnt really helping any more. I have a very colicy gut. I know it is related to this adenoma as when I was on HC it also went away 100% and I could eat anything unlike now where I seem to be limited. Its some kind of acid in abundence being made. Nexium and tagamet dont phase it unless I have ate garlic that realy upsets my stomach. Its more intestinal than stomach. What chemical or hormone could be doing this to me? I see the FNP friday who is very willing to do labs and address the problem. ita

Remind me how much spiro you are on. Cholestryamine is for a very specific type of diarrhea. May your pressure be low! C.E. Guest guest
Dr. Grim I was given cholestryamine in 2003 for it but no labs or investigation was ever done had my gallbladder out in 2000 it was presumed to be bile acid. Its been going on before spiro and only taking 100mg of spiro a day. It comes and goes its really odd. Weeks on and weeks off. I also have a scared restless feeling at times for no reason at all.The ATCH shot for my AVS wired me so bad I had to take valium for a week every night to sleep along with my stomach acting up as well. Then it all settled down in about 2 weeks. ita ¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬ What do they think is causing the diarrhea. Did it start when you started spironolactone. She sent me back to the Gastro and then I was sent to Nephrology then to Urology who did a IVP and a 24 hr urine not on aldosterone and found nothing in 3/05 at UCD in Sacramento I was so done with them. My adenoma was too small to show up untill 1/06 it is 1.5 in size. So it has been a Merry go round so far. Every MD has sent me to a ENdo all 7 of them and they have all said I was fine until you. I am getting a Dexamethsone over nite test next week for GRA. So I take the Dex at midnite and do a draw at 8am? Is cortisol measured as well? Yes as this will tell ifyou took the Dex and if it suppressed your ACTH. You also need to have plasma aldosterone measured in the same sample. Or is there any thing else for this dex over nite aldosterone test? I do feel so much better on HC it allowes me to take enough thyroid meds with no side effects. Thyroid drugs seem to make matters worse I can only take 3/4 of a 25mcg synthroid where 50mcg is more what I need but blood pressure becomes high and my stomach goes to pot on 50mcg. I found this out when I tapered off HC the Endos said it was a normal reaction for my blood pressure to sky rocket tapering off HC its supposed to go down. Guess they have never heard of GRA? I told them I must have Conn's syndrome they thought I was a joke and I do have Conn's syndrome. I am done with them 2. Looking real foreward to you moving to Tahoe. ita May your pressure be low! Guest guest
ita, Have any of your doctors mentioned the pituitary gland to you? I was recently doing some research on it and found that a disorder can affect the thyroid along with a lot of other things. Were you the one who mentioned a pigment problem? It also affects pigment. Guest guest
Fran My pituitary so far has normal hormone production. The hyperpigmentation spots must be related to this new problem of too much noreprinephrine. The ACTH in excess can cause hyperpigmentation but my acth has alway been normal low. ita
